This post takes the prize for the most ignorant, ill informed line of crap I've ever seen.
The US sold weapons to the British alright, to keep them from being overrun by the Germans until we got involved. We never sold weapons to Germany. They armed against the agreements they made after WW I. It's sad that the response that the French person got was just "We saved your ***...", even though it is true. If the North American countries had not intervened, all of Europe, including Britain, would have been overrun by the Germans. We would have wound up fighting them in our own backyards. The US contribution as far as materiel, manpower AND specifically casualties was multiples of what any other country contributed.
Japan was far from surrendering when we dropped the bombs on them. We did it because we were not willing to spend hundreds of thousands of lives it would have taken to subdue them conventionally.
It's one thing to be ignorant and biased, it's another thing to stand up in a public forum and display your stupidity and bias for everyone to see. Jeez...go back to school and try to stay awake this time. I vote that Europe and the ungrateful bunch of a**holes that live there fend for themselves next time.
sgt B, it was the 82nd Airborne and more specifically the newly formed 101st Airborne that jumped into France on D-day.

rudeness seems to be the status Que on the boards here. As for the rest of it All countries write their own history books. Those who were there are the only ones that really know what happened. I think your nuking comment was pretty rude though. My history books said the Japanese would not surrender after the first bomb. Don't know what yours says.

I think you need to go back and do your history. It was the 83 Airborne that jumped into Normady so that they can distract the enemy and we had infantry troops coming up on the beach....

Yes the UK and Canada were there and they did fight side by side but it was the 82 that made the jump

Does D-Day ring a bell....

What are you talking about? Brits and Canuks would be talking German right now if it weren't for Americans. There were more Americans on Normandy Beach than Brits and Canuks put together. Where did you learn your history?
