I live in a condo; I have a neighbor who lives above me. He is constantly making noise during the night whether if it is having friends over or having loud music or even walking loud. I confronted him once and he told me that he was sorry and didn’t know that we can hear it but weeks later he started to do it again. what should i do?. He is constantly making noise during the wee hours. Should i talk to him again and if i do what should i say?. i can't move cuz i signed a 4 year lease to this place. please help!!!

The first thing is that you don't want to "confront" the neighbor. You want to talk to him. Tell him that you don't mind if he makes his noise before a certain time but after say 10:00pm it just isn't acceptable. If after you speak with him the second time and it doesn't change, you can go to your HOA, maybe landlord or whomever manages the building. The home owners association will be your best place to start.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I have had the same things happen in the past. Talk with him one more time and just tell him in a nice way, to please keep the noise down. He knows you can hear all of the noise and even his walking noise. He just doesn't have any respect for you or he would be more quiet. If after you talk with him 1 more time, if it continues, start calling the police. That's what I did. I had to call the police 3 times in 1 night and he was cited for the noise and had to pay a pretty stiff price. I guarantee the noise stopped. I never lived in a downstairs place again. I lived upstairs from that day forward when I could get another place. It is ridiculous how people don't have any respect for others, and there are alot of people that don't. Don't keep putting up with his behavior. He needs to grow up and get some respect for others as well as hisself.

Get out of your lease.

I lived in a Beautiful apartment complex--my very first apartment last year--and unfortunately I had loud neighbors, and I learned that noisy neighbors do not change. We had a few loud neighbors--and so many residents complained that our Landlord called a meeting..Afterward, the noise calmed down for a while--but they eventually got it started again. LOUD NEIGHBORS DONT CHANGE--TRUST ME...I broke my lease--and look forward to a peaceful next apartment....I'm telling you---I called the police over & over, called the Landlord day & night--NOTHING HELPS..BREAK YOUR LEASE---Even start video recording all this noise and take your landlord to court if you have to--just get the hell out of there before you go crazy. Good Luck

The first thing to do is talk to the neighbor again. Let him know that you appreciate that he was able to tone down the noise before, but it seems to have started again. Let him know that you really need your sleep, and ask if there might be a solution to the noise problem.

One other issue, if the noise continues: Does your neighbor own his condo or rent?

If he rents, contact his landlord, if you know him, and let the landlord know that his tenant is interfering with your "quiet enjoyment" of your property. Contact the property management also, and let them know that you have a right to "quiet enjoyment" of the place you rent, and that one of the residents is interfering with that.

Also, call the police and let them deal with the noisemaker if it is persistent and he won't do anything to make the noise more bearable.

Oh, the joy of neighbors. This is easy though: the next time he makes too much noise, knock on his door and tell him: "I've confronted you about the noise before and you said you'd keep it down. Now you're doing it again, and I'm sorry but if you don't start keeping it down I'm calling the police". Be firm about it - if you don't, he won't take you seriously. Good luck! :D

I would call the police. There is a cut-off point to making noise. Or you could contact you landlord and see what he can do for you.
