you have to work out with weights!!!!! Calf raises. Go heavy and build the muscle and go light with A LOT of reps to burn and shape. Stay away from running(sprinting). People think they build calves. They shape and define and leaving you with high calves. You're question is how to build MUSCLE. So concentrate on all angles of the muslce for a fuller look.

Bicycle riding is an excellent exercise because you can have fun while you are doing it and go to scenic areas and build up other areas of your body at the same time. Unless you are trying to look like someone in a body building competition you should give it a try.

I play competitive soccer, and before the season starts I usually do 20km bike rides and play tennis for an hour or two 3 times a week. those two activities really help you build you calf, hamstring and quads muscles.

Cycling. But make sure you have numerous slopes and inclines where you ride. And have your bike on the lowest gear comfortable.
Running is also good. But the same thing as mentioned above.Run where there is inclines, low hills and such. That works the calves as they provide the lifting power.
