My son just went through this same thing, they may just try to glue it back on depending on how high up the tooth it is, if it is further up they may need to do a root canal and then cap it. My son broke one of his front teeth halfway up and that was the one that needed the root canal the other tooth that was chipped diagonally they just put a temporary cap on until they got the permanent one done. Good Luck.

He or she will give you a shot of novicaine and probably put a crown on it. It will protect the tooth from chipping further, being sesitive, or becoming a cavity. Some dentists use sedation dentistry. This is where you take a pill and you are awake but you don't feel or remember anyhting about the procedure. Good luck.

P.S. That actually just happened to me also. I'm going to the dentist tomorrow.

Well, first they will take a picture (x-ray) of the tooth to make sure the tooth can be saved, the dentist will examine that tooth and then treatment will be schedule . Treatment can vary so much that is why you need to consult your dentist.

If they can grind it down they will. If the crack is too deep, they will fill it or put on a crown. They have to look at it first.
