He seems to think it's funny. No matter what we do or say he doesn't stop. We even made him scrub the entire carpet clean after, he still does it. He will only go downstairs to pee on the carpet. He won't do this upstairs on the main floor. We DO have a bathroom on both levels. Help? What do we do?

We actually tried putting him in a pull-up hoping he would get embarrassed by it and stop. Now he makes a huge issue (trying to be funny) when I change my toddlers diaper... "I want a diaper mom, I want a diaper." He thinks it's hillarious. It doesn't help that my 8 year old laughs hysterically at him when he does these things.

His behaviour goes beyond this as well. My husband and I are at the end of our rope. I think bringing him for an evaluation is a good idea.

Thanks people!

Hollynfaith: that is a good idea actually! lol I'm going to try it. BTW, I have four boys as well. Surprisingly I'm just now starting to go insane. HA!

Run him outside and place him next to a tree? Actually I'm kidding. I have four boys and one of mine went through this stage. It was actually our fault. He peed on my fake palm tree one afternoon in the living room and my husband and I were just laughing hysterically. (My husband told the boys while camping it was okay to pee on a tree) That unfortunately led to a habit we had to break. Here's what we did. Our son was four at the time, but could understand right from wrong. So we sat him down and explained the effects of peeing on tree (or carpet, which ever you need). We then told him that we have bathrooms in the house and if he didn't want to use the bathroom, he was more than welcome to go outside in the woods, but that meant all the time...even in the middle of the night when it was dark too. It scared him so much, we never had another incident. Before trying this though, we did try punishment, taking things away, etc., and nothing worked. He kept doing it thinking he'd get the same reaction as the first time. I can't say this would work for everyone, but it's worth a try. Sometimes it takes a little fear of the unknown to break a bad habit. Your son is at the age where he can easily be manipulated and his imagination is running wild...use it to your advantage. My sister said this was cruel, but I failed to see how. We never beat him, didn't yell at him, or make him do anything out landish, we just gave him some options and he made his own choice.

Ok, for those that read alot of my questions, know I am a firm beleiver in spanking a child for bad behavior, not beating by any means but spanking when the event happens. Assuming you are doing that ( I am assuming that since that would be the normal punishment)

But if punishment is not working, there is some other issue and perhaps professional help is needed and should be considered

If he insists on peeing on the carpet, then go and buy some pullups for him. Make him wear them, I know it sounds harsh, but it might help. You can also try standing some time in the corner, or even firmer discipline if necessary. There is no sense in a child acting that way! You as a parent should not have to deal with it. I know I sound harsh, be that as it may, I would not put up with it for one minute.

have you ever taken the cat on your vet to get checked? that is the first component i ought to do reason now and again they do it because of an ailment. yet another excuse that they do it is because they are below pressure. a three twelve months previous daughter that does no longer comprehend the thanks to take care of a cat ought to correctly be the problem. the different reason is in the adventure that they scent the position that has been urinated on they'll proceed to pass there and it should be wiped clean up completely so there is not any scent left and that is rather a lot no longer accessible with carpet.

There's most likely a psychological issue behind this. My suggestion would be to try taking him to a psychologist to see if this may be rooted by something much deeper than just a behavioral problem. and if it's not...a few good swats to the backside each time he does it may just be the cure you're looking for...it worked for me and millions of others when we were children. I'm not saying BEAT your child...but even 'The Good Book' says 'Spare the rod and spoil the child.'

OK. One I would consider a spanking. Two do you have a dog. If so he might have watched your dog growing up and for some reason he migh think he is a dog. You should have him checked out by a psychologist.

this is a hard one. does he go to school/preshool/ daycare or is he home all day... he might benefit being around other children his age, to see how they act. Another suggestion would be to go to a doctor, or a consular but with children any consoling would need to be long term to build a repore with the doctor.

Sounds like he is trying to get your attention. whether it is good or bad, it's still attention. Try crying to show him how much it hurts you because he sure doesn't want to hurt mommies feelings. (just a suggestion)
