He said: "Oh SNAP!"
I don't even know what it means...where can I find the meaning?

Thanks all, he says he heard from "raven"
or "That's So Raven"
I didn't name the show, so I believe him.
HOWEVER, since it is used as a substitute for an actual adult phrase...I don't think it is necessary for my son to say it.
It may seem innocent enough to most people or for Disney. But, it isn't innocent enough for me. Thanks!

YES! I monitor the shows my kids watch! They are only allowed to watch PBS and Disney channels. I haven't seen "Raven" in over a year. And, because we don't have cable I assumed the same for him. Obviously I have to talk to the Grandmas.
I'm a Mom and I monitor the shows my kids watch.

That's so Raven is a Disney show (don't you monitor what your kids watching?) My daughter is five and watches i. Oh Snap isn't necessarily a bad phrase it can represent just about anything, Raven (the shows character) uses it anytime something isn't going right, or bad news came about. In my house, my daughter uses it, I use it too. It can mean, oh no, oh darn, oh shoot, oh sh*t, It's all about how you address it with your child. Get used to slang, they are in school, they will use it.

Does your son watch the Disney Channel and if so does he watch "That's So Raven"? Because if you answered "yes" to both questions.........he got "Oh Snap" from watching it. It's just an expression (Clean Version). It's on the same line as "Oh Shoot".

Hey! I'm a kid too... all my friends and I say it too...I was kinda scared it meant something bad so I did some research on it before I started using it it means " oh no! Dang it!" just stuff like that. It's something you say when something doesn't go your way...Raven, off of "That's so Raven"(love the show!) says it too...that's where he got it....It doesn't mean anything bad, so no need to worry...I commend you on your efforts to make sure your son is being appropriate though! I wish more of the moms would do that to the boys in my grade!

do you have Disney Channel? if so...
He got it from the "That's so Raven" show with Raven Simonne of Cosby show fame. She says it all the time--its not bad- it's just her little tag line on the show---its her frustration word when thing don't go right, and they usually don't, since it is a silly situation comedy.
My girls watch it all the time, I think it is on right now...

It's a phrase people utter in disbelief or when something bad happens. I don't see where it's a bad thing for your child to say-- there are many more words out there that are much worse than that! He probably picked it up from some kids in school or something.

oh, SNAP! could mean a variety of things, like oh, ****, or oh no. Chances are he picked it up at school and doesn't really even know what he is saying. Its harmless really. It's not a cuss word, mom, so I wouldn't get to upset about it. It's kinda cute!

WoW!! I thought my 7 year old was the only one saying that! We have been scolding him for saying it.. I thought it was the same as Oh ****! This is too funny....lol. Well, now that we know it's ok I guess we'll stop fussing at him when he says it. I feel really bad now! lol.

The first thought that come to my mind was cartoons on tv. I was watching the new winnie the poo and he said "what the fuuuuu"
I'm not going to let my kids watch some of these multi-age cartoons.
