poor guy, try pedialyte to keep him hydrated and then give him starchy foods like bread, potatos or pasta, plain. Bananas also help the potassium in them acts like fiber. Hope I helped, my little one is in daycare and if he doesn't come home once a year like that...

Sounds like the flu...but if he has a temperature for more than 24 hours or if it's over 101, take him to the emergency room...give him pedialyte for the bowel movements, you can find that at wal-mart in the baby care isle, this will also help with hydration, he needs to stay in bed and sleep, that will help rebuild his immune system..also a lil tlc from mommy might help his mood, and get rid of the sick blues..rent a couple of his favorite movies, and give him a spot on the couch so he doesn't feel left out....

Also if you are worried about his temperature, childerens motrin works well, and doesn't taste too horrid...

Stay away from sodas, gatorade right now, the excess sugar can make diarrhea worse.

If his stomach isn't hurting tomarrow, try some chicken soup and crackers...or some jello....

You posted this question 4 days ago. If he's still like this I really hope common sense has taken over and you've taken him tho the doc by now! When my children have diorrhea then I make sure they have plenty liquids and use the BRAT diet - Bananas,Rice,Apples,Toast. Introduce them one by one over a few days.Seems to help. Also - Yaccult or some other friendly-bacteria drink helps kick start them back into normal action. Flat lemonade also seems to help with an upset tummy.

I think plenty of fluid, the flat coke idea is not bad and try a tummy massage, possibly a warm (hot) water bottle, also try NHS Direct. If goes on for too long then see a doctor quickly and don't take any nonsense. Doctors are just human mechanics everybody seems to think there Gods and my experience is they're not.

PS. The assumption by one of your answerers that the reason could be because Dad looked after him badly should be disregarded. That sounds like bad feminism.

Calpol is good but more importantly make sure he gets lots and lots of fluid inside him, this will help bring down the temperature and stop him dehydrating because of the diorrhea,if it continues any more than 12 hrs get him to the doctors.

The dry cough ought to be loosened so change on a funky mist humidifyer. an excellent sort of chilly fluids for his throat and to stay hydrated. undesirable Johnny, undesirable c, i hate it whilst they're ill, i'm hoping he feels greater proper quickly. that's the single occasion the place having a new child with allergies is physically powerful, because of the fact a million-2 Albuterol's (which i consistently have) contained in the nebulizer, he'd have some efficient coughs top away and the congestion could leave swifter. If he has something...the rfile would advise it, yet he would have a chilly.

Bless, the poor little thing. Your right to give him Calpol, also make sure he drinks plenty of water. Put him on the sofa with his quilt and favourite DVD, he'll be fine in no time. But if it hasn't cleared up in a few days take him to the doctor who can prescribe something. Good luck.

Have you taken him to the doctor? When my son had that I gave him pedialite and the pedialite popsicles. There isn't really much you can do about him pooping. You could try giving him crackers....bananas...lots of water. Since he is only 2 I would talk to your doc before trying anything out like pepto bismol or anything like that just to be safe. I remember my son having this and he was in the hospital. He was sick for like 2 weeks. The poor little guy. I hope he gets better.

Calpol, fliuds, if he doesn't get any better, whisk him off to the quacks in the morning. I'm sure he will be fine. My son had something similar a while back. He was fine after some tlc and a fair amount of Calpol (I didn't give him over the stated dose tho!!)

Good luck :)

Doctors usually recommend not giving any medication and letting the bowels heal on their own. It takes about 24 to 48 hours for them to settle. In the mean time give your son plain food and make sure to keep him very hydrated. If you see that the fiber and diarrhea persist after this time frame I would suggest to call the doctor for further advice. I hope your soon gets better soon.

Mint or peppermint will help. I like peppermint tea with sugar however that's not for a little boy's tastes. You could give him sugar free mints to suck on. That would settle his tummy.

Also, I would give him clear fluids until the bowels settle down. I recommend a dry soup mix made up (like Lipton's). That way he'll get the fluids he needs and it's full of salt so it'll help keep him from being dehydrated.
