charcoal....
I just dont understand why people would want to bbq with a gas grill ???? for that, might as well cook your food indoors on the stove

Charcoal is definitely it - Gas grills are like cooking on a stove as far as I'm concerned..no flavor at all. If you like to cook a lot using a charcoal grill, get yourself a ''chimney charcoal starter'' - they heat charcoal up about 20% faster and you don't need lighter fluid! (Safer too - No more fiery blasts when the coals don't take the first time around and you have to spray on the lighter fluid - toss the match and jump back..)

I like either and cook outside year round. Charcoal seems like it tastes best, but if you use hickory chips over the gas grill, it tastes just as good.
It is just that charcoal is so darned much trouble and makes such a mess to clean up.
Gas is on when it's on and off when it's off with not another thought.

If you want something REALLY good use a "Smoker>" You put charcoal and chunks of hickory in the bottom, then a pan of water next, then a grate with something on it like ribs, chicken, whatever, then another grate with more stuff on it. It takes about 8 - 10 hours, but oh my goodness, it is worth it. AND you can put dried beans in the pan of water and the juices of the meat drip down and season them while they cook. I don't know why, but I feel a little hungry!

gas grilled is good if you don't want the clean up of a charcoal grill but charcoal has the better taste by far

Charcoal...it just tastes better. I can cook on the stovetop and get the same result (taste wise) as cooking on a gas grill.

Charcoal tastes better, but gas grilled is so much quicker and easier to clean up (because I don't clean my grill, HAHA) disgusting, I know... but SOO convenient!
