He's almost 5 months old and 3.4 pounds. He's very friendly with everyone. The only time he has attempted to bark was about 3 weeks ago when a couple of kids rode their bike into our yard while he was outside. It wasn't a real bark it sounded kinda weak, and high pitched.

I would think he would have started by now, but most people spend a lot of time trying to get their dogs to STOP barking, so just consider yourself lucky.

I would bark when my chihuahua would perk her ears. Now I can't get her to stop. Every little noise and she's up barking. When we walk out of the house her first instinct is to bark and let everyone know she's outside. Bark, Bark, Bark, I should never have started.

sometimes some dogs just don't bark there hole life. my chihuahua started barking when he was 3 to 4 months. but when it happens u will wish it never did

He's friendly -- be glad. If you got a dog for protection, you might have wanted to think bigger, so I'm guessing that wasn't the reason. Therefore, why do you want him to bark?

He needs to be in a place where he can here other dogs bark and then he will adapt to it and learn to bark.

barking at the kids is a good sign. he was being protective.mine started when i started watching tv with him on my lap.if someone came close to me he would bark.then it progressed to someone knocking on the door---cause he learned that it was someone wanting to enter.it took about 6 months to get it all right .

every dog barks differently. My chihuahua barks like he is big dog and it's anoying but i still love him. i want a dog like yours, maybe we should trade (Just kidding)

just give him time. i have 2 chihuahuas, and they bark at every little noise. believe me...when he starts, you will wish he would shut up. lol
