I'm not "up" on the latest prices for a peke, but this is what I *strongly* suggest doing.

Avoid Pet shops.
Rescue a humane society dog or puppy if possible.
For prices, do a search on the web for *responsible* breeders. Those will offer health warranties & the like. The puppies are apt to be raised with loving care vs. the puppy mill environment where they are practically tortured and often die (which is why I say avoid pet shops).

A responsible breeder CARES where their puppies are placed & will ask you LOTS of questions - expect this! Hey if you cared about a pet & wanted to find it a good home, wouldn't YOU ask lots of questions?

Once you find some breeders online, call a few of them about prices. They'll be only too glad to let you know what their puppies cost and what is included.

If you find a "real deal", it's probably too good to be true. This is apt to be a backyard breeder who has no clue about the quality of their puppies and is looking for the buck. No guaranties, maybe both parents on the premises (why haven't they found the very best stud they could for their female?). Some of these backyard breeders actually do love their pets (vs. the puppy mills), but they are just clueless and contributing to population overgrowth.

Good luck in your search! If you rescue your pet, that is wonderful. If you are looking for a high quality pedigree put, my suggestions will help you.
