we need protein to stay healthy and in good shape we want to be able to eat as much servings from every food group that is required. we must also excerise and eat a balanced diet so that way we will not have as much health problems

I feel that they can adequately replace one of your 3 daily meals. I know some people who drink a protein drink for breakfast, on their way to work (when if they didn't, they would not have eaten anything at all). Protein early in the morning can be extremely beneficial- giving your energy and a feeling of "fullness" so that you are not snacking all day long. I do not think that protein shakes should replace all of your meals- like you said- we need to eat balanced meals and exercise.
