hahaha good one...You need a new doctor. I'm older and I can tell you when something hurts it's your body trying to tell you something. Go to another doc and another untill someone listens. Doctors are not god and they do make mistakes. Good luck in finding out whats wrong. I had pain in one knee and hip and back.It is arthris and I eat certain foods to help it. You need to find out what it is and soon.

I would ask him, "How do you know for SURE that it is old age? What if it isn't? Shouldn't we check it out?" Doctors sometimes brush someone off because they think that they can get away with it. Don't let them do that. Be nice about it, but insist on an answer other than "old age." If he won't listen or give you any answers, it might be time to find another doctor.

I used to have a doctor who said, "Oh, it's the multiple sclerosis." I asked him, "How do you know that?" He said, "Oh, I just know." He hasn't been my doctor for a very long time.

My internist's attitude is completely different. She will say, "This could be the MS, but let's check into it just to make sure." And some of the time, it isn't the MS at all that is the problem. I really appreciate her thoroughness.

Your Question: "Why is it that when I complain to my doctor about the pain in my left leg, that he always says its down to old age!"

My Answer: Because he's an idiot.

It's hard to say, Cute question, "JUST AS OLD," Kinda funny too. Please don't take the humor as disrespect, I find the question amusing.

If your doctor says it's old age, then I would ask for a second opinion from another doctor. If you have a chance and insurance, see if you can get a PET scan done, ask your doctor about it. If your leg feels weak, the muscles may need some strength rehabilitation.

Stupid doctor.
I'd look into problems with the sciatic nerve if it seems to run from your hip down.
Without a doubt get another opinion from a different Dr. Getting old does give you pains, but some of those pains are indicators of other problems that can be fixed easily or can make your life a little longer if fixed in time. (think bone cancer, or blocked veins causing pains in your leg)

Good luck, and fire the other Dr.

Many doctors just suck.

Mine fobbed me off for *years* with denial and BS about the problems with my knee.

Eventually I got him to refer me to a physiotherapist, who identified the cause and gave me muscle building and stretchign exercises that corrected the problem very quickly.

Years of pain and being held back in my sport, because my GP was a bit of a nob.

Pressure him for a better answer, or a second opinion from another GP. Ask to see a physio. Consider a private diagnosis.

It may not be old age. You need to either ask your doctor to run some tests or change doctors and ask the new one to run some tests. Not to scare you but it could be anything from nestless leg syndrom to a blood clot or many other things. My best answer to your question is to seek tests to make sure it is not serious.
Take care!

Just old age is no answer. There are many reasons for pain. Get another opinion.

Your doctor and your left leg both are a bit crazy. Just shake them they will be back to normal again.

Damn doctors, they're all alike; have you tried a product called "flexonal?" You can buy it on line from https://www.northstarnutritionals.com. Try it; my Mom does wonders on this and she's over 70. Good luck

if the link doesn't work, just search the web for "Flexonal"
