Dogs do great camping. I have camped with all 6 of my dogs, for LONG vacations..Just take a jug of their own water, as they will often not like strange water..Make sure they are current on shots, and get a spot-on skin treatment from your vet to protect them against parasites and heartworm. ('Revolution' covers all bases)
Take the blanket they use at home..Take a tie-out stake, and an extra collar..Keep them on leash, so they don't chase a skunk .
Keep a first aide kit...

Your thinking about going camping during a hurricane?
If your really worried you have few choices. First thought that a hurricane is coming your way, get out of town. Or, you can risk staying put (my sister lives in Florida and always has the hurricanes, she never leaves because of her 3 cats) Or, go to a shelter, and hope all will be well with them at home. Animals can handle much more then humans.

Why can't you take your dogs with you? I'm certainly going to take mine if we're evacuated for a hurricane. Also, now there are some shelters that let both people and their pets stay there. The dog must be in a crate, however. Don't leave your dogs, though.

Our dogs go EVERYWHERE with us but restaraunts and grocery shopping. They're always ready for an adventure and as we tend to do things when the mood strikes,I have to be prepared for about anything so I keep a kit in a large zippered bag with a carry handle as well as their own duffel bags. The kit has old food and water dishes they no longer use,old towels to dry them with and a couple of wash cloths. There's a small case in there that has bandages,Sure Clot, tweezers, alcohol swabs, small scissors, generic aspirin, and a picture of each dog as well as their vaccination and county registration papers in case they should get lost or lose their tags.A vinyle table cloth with cloth backing in case we end up in a hotel.I put food and water dishes on this to protect carpets from spills.
I buy heartworm pills and Advantix in bulk so toss that in on my way out as well as whatever meds they are on.
In their duffel bag I pack a couple of their favorite stuffed animals, rawhide bones ,other treats and some balls as well as their favorite blankets to lay on.And I have a 2 gallon thermos I fill with water. When and if that runs out I buy spring water for them by the gallon.I also have some large bowls with lids big enough to fit a 3 day supply of their food in and keep a 1 lb.butter dish to measure with.It holds 2 cups.Tie outs and stakes stay in their duffels as well and to save time we have 3 vehicles and 2 leashes in each one so they're never forgotten.

Excellent question! Wish everybody planned ahead like you. Basically, as long as all the vaccinations and monthly treatments for fleas/ticks and mosquitoes are current, you should be OK. Take a First Aid kit with you in case you need it and you might talk with your vet to see if he/she has any ideas. Smart planning on your part.
I'm glad we don't live in hurricane country; we have nine dogs and it would be difficult to relocate with them for any length of time.
