Picnics are one of my favorite outings. The foods at you disposal are boundless. Let me give you a few ideas to get you started. You have mentioned the standard but you want new ideas. Try roasted, fried, or oven fried chicken, burritos, tacos, lasagna, baked ziti, macaroni and cheese. Do you see what I mean once you stop thinking how hard it is you will realize that if the food can be eaten at home it can also be eaten on a blanket with the family. The side dishes will fall into place, melon, berries, any type of salad, cookies, pie or cake. Have fun.

Pick up some chicken strips at KFC or the grocery store and take along some steak-type fries that are thick. He will love it!
Also, take a tub of cut-up watermelon. Enjoy!
