Allah is not an Arabic word for God.1300 years ago in the merchant town of Mecca. The local Arabs were a friendly lot who allowed visiting merchants from the known world to worship there. People were allowed to bring images of their Gods and place them on the Cabbah a honed out meteor table.

At it's best there were 350 Gods on the Cabbah. one was Allah the moon God along with His wife the Sun Goddess and the three daughters of Allah.

When Muhammad came to power all but the 5 Gods were removed. Once Islam was established , Muhammad lived 10 years. After which the religion began to change.

The reason the crescent moon adorns all Muslim countries is to honor the Moon God.

The Muslims since have promoted him to be creator. Not the God of Abraham , Isaac and Jacob. That is why their Idea of heaven is so alien to any other.

It's the Arabic word for GOD.

"Allah is the Arabic term for "God" in Abrahamic religions, and is the main term for the deity in Islam.

Most Arabic-speaking Muslims, Christians and Jews (including the Teimanim, several Mizraḥi communities and some Sephardim) use "Allah" as the proper noun for 'God.' "Allah" is found in the Qur'an and in Arabic and Indonesian translations of the Bible. In the Qur'an, it refers to The Only God.

Outside the Arab world, Allah is associated with Islam, and is used to refer specifically to the Islamic concept of God. It is the same as the Jewish conception of God [1][2] , but differs from the Trinitarian Christian conception of a single God.

Islamic scholars often translate Allah directly into English as 'God', especially Qur'an Alone Muslims. Other scholars feel that Allah should not be translated arguing that Allah is the term for "The God" in a glorified pronunciation. This is a significant issue when translating the Qur'an."

I suppose we can excuse the asker's naivete. After all, many Christians don't know that the proper name for their own "God the Father" is Elohim.
