The experts can't even agree on that. I have been hearing all my life that we were running out of fossil fuels, and now we are using them at a higher rate than ever before.
If we were really running out, the oil companies would be working harder on alternative fuels. They don't like not making money.
I would say a very long time.

I've answered similar questions before.
I'd very much enjoy seeing that happen in my lifetime, and I'm 62.
As a species we are generally greedy and abusive of what exists, that we not only don't have strict control over, but no real knowledge about an end time.
What we do know is that we are greedy and abusive, and yet have made no significant moves to change.
Example: Not life threatening, but a distant analogy.
Asuume you very much enjoyed ANYTHING that was readily available, reasonably priced, and seemed limitless. Suddenly one day, you woke to find it was no longer available, and alternatives were new, and still expensive, and not plentiful. What would you do?
It could be as simple as running out of peanut butter, or as horrific, as living on the Coast and having the Ocean breakers suddenly washing through your living room, because things like Global warming, are FACT!!!

They will last indefinitely because, as they further dwindle in quantity, their price will increase, lessening the ability of people to afford it and thus decreasing overall consumption. Small comfort to us, of course.
