trying to prepare some fruit that will be easy for a toddler to eat. Pits are just not toddler friendly, unless you don't like the toddler...

Wash a bobby pin and then use it to pull the pit out of the cherry. Be sure you use the rounded end, not the two prongs. This is what my mother taught me when we used to can cherries.

Specialty Cookware Stores cary a "pit remover". Basically it's pushing the pit out and saves the cherry. It's also good for making cherry pie.

A cherry pitter is great, but if you don't have one, make a slit on the side of the cherry and squeeze gently, the pit should pop out. Sorry there is'nt an easier way.........lucky kid you got there!

you can buy a cherry pitter in any hardware store. Put the cheeries in and the cherries go one way and the pits the other way. Hve fun

Williams and Sonoma makes a hand held cherry pitter...they are hard to come by, unless you can order one off the internet. The link to the web page that sells them is below. Hope it helps a bit!

Go to a cooking store such as Williams Sonoma. They have a cherry pitter gadget specific for this purpose. You may even be able to find it in the kitchen section of a store such as Target.

Put the cherry between your thumb and index finger and squeeze. If the "meat" comes out with the pit, try to pinch it off with your fingernails.

Depending on how much, or how often you prepare cherries; you might invest in a Cherry Pitter. They are inexpensive, and are well worth the time it saves you.

Your local kitchen gadget store will carry a cherry pitter.

It can also be used for pitting olives.
