Why bother answering a question with a single word or just an insult, i mean i know there getting points for it but why do it if they don't get some sort of enjoyment out of it. Am prepared for the worst now! but hopfully some decent answers as well.

Maybe it's because these people are so tired of people asking the same stupid and hopeless questions over and over again. So then they don't see the point of answering properly anymore. Thus, the golden rule: treat others as you want to be treated. If you ask stupid questions that aren't properly spelled, etc. then you will get stupid answers or insults. Yes, I do enjoy answering questions when they're asked properly and I know the person has enough intelligence to make good of it. Why? Because it makes me feel good!

Now I am not on here just for the points, I enjoy asking as well as answering for enjoyment, as some of the advice you give makes someone's day, and it is really nice to get a e-mail to say that you have got the best answer, that to me is satisfaction, not the points, if you know it? then tell it Yeah!

Hehe yes, a lot of people just want the points associated with getting an answer. Others just want to make themselves look 'cool' in front of the other users. While this may turn some people into his favor a lot more (like us 2!) will be totally turned off.

Because some people feel they need to insult other to feel good about themselves
Because they are trying to do the least amount of possible work and still get something out of it (points)
Because although some are bored we are not that bored to sit and give a meaningful response to someone

Maybe they think they're being funny. Pretty sad if someone thinks that insulting someone is funny! (like the first answer you got. Real funny.) But for the person asking the question, it's just boring to have to sift through all the idiots to get to the meat. Sincere, thought-out answers are so much fun! Even if they really ARE funny!

I personally don't understand it myself, I think it makes them feel better and they can vent or something, lol. I always report anyone who does stupid things like what you described. And some people just want the points for some reason, which makes no sense when you can get a lot more points by answering a question to the best of your ability. odd isn't how dumb some people can be?

well ok... lets take me for instance...im bored and decided to come on here and answer a few questions for some ppl i might be able to help...and then comes insult/one-word questions. in my opinion, who cares! some ppl are here to joke and some ppl want serious advice...i answer some stupid ones cause, face it, its internet...and just like real life, you'll meet idiots along the way...so u either take it with a smile...or u ignore. that's basically it! what can i say...some ppl crave attention and are ready to sink reeeeeeeeaaaaalllll low to get it, so give a dog a bone if ur up to it.

I know how you feel, stating the obvious seems earn people points. But at least your answers are all in english, i got one in portugese, and another in pigeon english. Not really much help in either case. Still, i live in hope, there are some helpful people out there, law of averages tells us that.

Ummm actually they're after points, they're everywhere. They also want to leave a mark, they're bored....these were 3 of the million reasons why they do it.
I do it sometimes if the question was stupid, but never insulted anyone.

I was going to ask this question at some point myself! I think some people are unintelligent but want to feel intelligent, so they just answer questions with nonsense answers so they can earn points and ask stupid questions (like "will u go out with me" and stuff like that). I encourage people to rate and report stuff like this, we'll never weed it out but at least maybe we can reduce the points of people who really don't belong here.
