10"Our land lies in ruins now, but we will rebuild it better than before. We will replace the broken bricks with cut stone, the fallen sycamore trees with cedars." 11The LORD will reply to their bragging by bringing Rezin's enemies, the Assyrians, against them-- 12along with Arameans from the east and Philistines from the west. With bared fangs, they will devour Israel. But even then the LORD's anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike. 13For after all this punishment, the people will still not repent and turn to the LORD Almighty. 14Therefore, in a single day, the LORD will destroy both the head and the tail, the palm branch and the reed. 15The leaders of Israel are the head, and the lying prophets are the tail. 16For the leaders of the people have led them down the path of destruction. 17That is why the Lord has no joy in the young men and no mercy on even the widows and orphans. For they are all hypocrites, speaking wickedness with lies.

First of all, out of context, we really have no idea what he's talking about. Secondly, whatever specifically he's referring to, generally speaking, this is referring to ancient civilizations so its relevance to today's situation in the Middle East is naught.

The ancient kingdom of Israel (not including Judea) was destroyed by the Assyrians, The 10 tribes were scattered. The cause was evil leaders and religious leaders. The people were warned but did not repent.

As with other prophesies, you can infer that we are also in danger if we are hypocrites and follow an evil path.

Reminds me of the "TWO WITNESSES" however, I think they should just move to the USA and forget about Armageddon. It would seem they've been set-up by someone pretending to be God anyway. Are the oil wells running low and in need of a refill? Just sayin'

I think that it is telling us what is happening already and a little of what is to come in the future.
It is telling us that we had better get rid of the bad things and repent to God so that we can have eternal salvation with him.

So God is going to punish widows and orphans because of what others have done? that does not seem to be all that loving.

Sounds to me like the empty rantings of a guy who died 2,000 years ago.
