As long as they do their job who cares?
Sexual orientation has little to do with toughness, Hell I imagine being gay will make you tough in this world.
I don't approve of it but I don't seek their approval because I like women, If they are adult and consenting we need to worry about our own skeletons.

I do not think homosexuals in the military are a problem. I have been in the USAF for 20+ years and know a few homosexuals that are still in the AF. One of my best friends is gay and we have been through a couple conflicts together. They do their jobs like everyone else and I would go to war with them any day! I am as straight as one can get but I have no phobias against gays.
As far as gay women tougher then gay men...not an issue.
I know some straight women that are tougher than straight men...it all depends on the person and how you define tough.

I'd rather people would just stop making such an issue about gay men. From what I've seen, gay women are not any tougher than the men.

My husband is currently in Iraq and if a gay man is the person that helps save his life then you wont hear me complaining. I personally never thought of them any differently, but i know alot that do. and as far as gay women or men who are tougher, its the same a changeling straight women and men, i know a few straight women that are tougher than men. so i don't personally think one is tougher than the other.

The only modernized nations that ban gays are:
The USA, Italy, Greece and Poland.
Here's some others:
Iran, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Venezuela, and North Korea!
What kind of axis is that, and why do we belong to it?

They are all people who want to serve there country so who cares. When I did my tour, I knew a few gay men who were very honorable. I think all women are stronger than men. Looking at my wife when she gave birth I KNOW I couldn't have kept it together.
WBrian makes a great point, one of the best I have seen.

why should anyone be discriminated against b/c of their sexual preference? just b/c someone is gay doesn't mean they think differently from a straight person. your best friend could be gay and still in the closet...if he comes out, your views on him shouldn't change. he's still the same person, gay or not

I could care less if they liked siberian huskies, as long as they pull their load and get the job done - and do like everyone else in the military is required to do, keep their private lives at home.
One funny thing a comedian once said - wouldn't a guy fight a little harder to cover your backside if he REALLY liked you???

I think it was ridiculous not to let them in in the first place. We need as many people we can get, and our government is turning people away solely on sexual preference, even if they are beneficial!
There is something seriously wrong with our nation's priorities.
