I had 2 Morman missionarys come up to while I was working, my boss at that time set it up, (not even asking me) and during our conversation, they refured to the Morman religon as "more of a business then anything" (their exact words) it made me shy away from them very far away.
Too any Morman who should be reading this...is this a true statement and what is ment by it.
Too anyone else please tell me what this makes you feel when you hear it?
Besides the clear legal bonderies that had been broken, I am aware, and it has being delt with.

Wow, sorry you had to go through that ackward discussion. As a member of the church, a Mormon if you will, I'd like to apologize for the other members that think they can try and force religion on others without their permission. And as a former missionary, I'd say that the way the missionaries were talking is highly irregular. The church isn't a business; it is a Christian religion that focuses on Jesus Christ as the savior of mankind. I have no idea what the missionaries were talking about. Hopefully your experience doesn't totally bias you against the rest of us.
Hope that helps.
As for the ignorant person above. It's not holy underwear nor do we share multiple wives. Polygamy is against the current teachings of the church and anyone that practices it is excommunicated.

I can't go in Muslim mosques all the way, nor can I enter into the backs of Orthodox temples. The temples aren't to discriminate; they are just holy places where God has established rules for who can enter. Not even all members of the church can go int the temples right away.
I live in Utah too, but I grew up in Idaho. My wife doesn't like it here either. She thinks all the Mormons here are really judgemental and condescending. We're planning on moving in a year though.
If you have any questions you can email me or something. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

I'm LDS and am a little offended also. What your boss did wasn't cool. He should've asked for your permission before he set up an appointment with the missionaries.

Here's the thing....businesses are set up to make profit. The LDS Church is not. The money we pay in tithes goes to the maintenance of our buildings, materials, etc etc. The church does have investments in businesses but the money earned goes back with the purpose to cause good in the world..not to profit the leaders of the church. If someone were caught dipping off of the funds, that person would be persecuted by the laws of the funds.

The statement that the church is a business offends me also. It isn't. It is run very smoothly, but its business isn't profit or subjugation.

As a returned missionary and someone who lived in Utah for 22 years...that statement just doesn't ring true.

As far as the state being run just by mormons, I'm sorry you feel that way. There are judgemental people there, they are everywhere---to the other RM, I'm sorry your wife chooses to focus on the negative. You sometimes find what you are looking for......just because you're from ID, that really doesn't mean a lot. There's a whole lot more mormons in South East ID, then where I grew up in UT.

I'm actually kind of offended by that statement. I'm a Mormon and I believe that it was out of line for your boss to do what he did. The church runs like pretty much any other organizations. My dad works as a maintenance worker in one of our temples and he has to deal with the fact that some of the church runs like a business.
Any large organization is going to have to deal with some business related issues, but the church at its core is about getting closer to God and that should be the main focus of everything we do.

I have no idea why they would refer to the Church as a business. It is not. I also am sorry about the way your boss "ambushed" you. That isn't right. We have to understand that we are all imperfect. Don't hate your boss, the missionaries, or the Church because of a couple mistakes.

Mormonism is a business and a cult. Don't be a part of a business or "religion" that makes you wear "Holy" underwear and share your husband with 15 other women.
