It is a standard argument that graphic sexual imagery contributes to the repression of women in society and encourages men to treat women as sexual objects. The religious conservatives saying these things, though, don’t invest any effort to fight other means by which women are definitely repressed, like differences in pay, or other ways they are treated like sexual objects, such as the idea that women belong in the home either pregnant or raising children. But both of those ideas are supported in the Bible!!

If you say it's a CHOICE to be a HOUSEKEEPER, and serving your man is rewarding. All of those people in Porn are adults CHOOSING to produce it. Many of them are rewarded in many ways. Who are you to judge?

All I will say is many many years have passed since the Bible was written and at that time there were no fortune 500 companies where both men and women could work.. To paraphrase what the Bible says it says that the man should be the provider and work the land and the wife should bear children and keep the house.. but you know doggone well that is not true today....in today's society there is a need for both men and women to work.. thanks to the government... so blame the people of today not God...

The whole basis of your question is out of context.

While many porn stars are women who are well paid and live high class lives, there are many who do not. Their value as a person is greatly deminished, but even more so, their value as women is lost as well.

Men and women are equal, women are the help mate to the man, and he needs her in order to function and be whole. Proverbs discribes the ultimate woman who not only bought and sold property with her OWN money, but invested in improvments on those property, adding huge incomes to the household. She also provided food and clothing for her family, not just any, but the best, and not just for her family, but for all her neighbors who were in need.

In fact, she was such a sucessful business women that she had maids to run her house for her, and she did much in the way of chairty work.

She did all this while raising a family of children.

That to me doesnt sound anything like some meek sad little house keeper who stays home and breeds offspring.

While the bible shows men and women to be equal, it also shows where each has its place and best ability to function. Men have for centuries been using those scriptures as means to oppress women, when it only shows how best for each to support eachother.

I'm a man, but I choose to answer this question to provide balance...

When I was younger, I worked in the porn industry. My face was never seen on the films I made. Only my genitals were featured...I was a piece of meat, and I chose to make those films. I now regret that choice.

I want to find a woman whom I can love as a whole person, physically, emotionally and spiritually...my choice as a young man makes this difficult. In my life, this is the consequence of a choice I made as a young man.

I can only speak for myself, and don't pretend to speak for anyone else...this was my experience. If you choose to view or make pornography, I hope that your experience is and will be different.

Being as you are an atheist I can see you really don't have much knowledge of what is in the Bible. Can you really think men and women in porn are doing this stuff freely? How would you like it if t was your sister or spouse depicted in porn? This stuff is degrading to all human beings and defiles the sanctity of human sexuality

MANY of those people in porn are also NOT adults, and are,in some ways coerced or other things to get them to do those things. Some, perhaps are willing participants. I am not religious, but have had porn and my ex's addiction to it ruin mine and my child's life. I am NOT subservient in any way, shape or form to a man. Men are NOT superior to women,I'd like to see ONE make a child, carry it for 9 months, and make food to feed that child. Only women can do that. Men are basically expendible,if you ask me. I'd personally like to put them all on an island and leave them there. Yes,oh we do need their sperm, but soon enough we won't need that either,I'm sure. So,other than working on cars, and mowing the yard, both of which I can do myself, what do we really need them for again? I forget

very good point , but you listed two of the very extremes ...as far as I'm concerned there has to be a happy medium ,,,porn doesn't make me subservient nor does the bible....( unless Im role playing)...I have free will ...We teach people how they treat us...So if you are treated like crap by a man in this day and age in this country, you probably deserve it.

It is our punishment for Eve's sin in the bible, women are to be subservient and have pain in child birth. And for Adams punishment and men they are to toil in their labors, and for lying to G-D and saying it was the women's fault, and not taking responsibility for his own actions. women will be an ever present nagging force until your dieing day. Hows that. hee hee hee. ha ha ha.

It's just an arguement they use because they can't use "It's morally wrong" as a legal reason to suppress it because christian values aren't technically allowed to be the motivation for laws according to the first ammendment. They are anyway, but the sneakier the lawmakers can be, the less they have to argue against the truth.

I would say the bible.
All it does is push women further and further down by promoting man as being the better sex.
