I don't know how to name you, so 'normal' seemed like a good word. I don't mean to offend with these words.

My question is: If I were religious and i would see all sorts of people who are claiming to belong to my religious group, condemning a lot of other groups based on the same book that my religion is based on, I would start to get worried.

I know that 99 out of 100 Christians and Muslims are very normal, nice, loving people. How do you feel about that little group of people that uses your Holy Book to condemn others and to judge others? Or even use your Holy Book as an excuse to kill people?

Does it sicken you? Does it question your faith? Does it make you think that your God maybe should have taken care of writing his message more clearly?

I'm seriously interested in how this makes you feel.

I'm a Christian. It doesn'tmake me question my faith. I find it a little embarrassing when someone like Pat Robertson calls for the assassination of a foreign leader, or the murder of anyone for that matter.
It stems from ignorance. In certain situations, I always ask myself (and I know it sounds corny but...) What would Jesus do, or think about,,, etc.. I don't think Jesus would call for the assassination of anyone.
I am all for interfaith discussions and getting to know other groups opinions and feelings, sometimes this helps hash things out before they get out of hand.

No it doesn't sicken me.In no way does it shake my faith.
I could post these exact same questions towards Atheists and the like'.
There are always the few who think they are greater than the total sum.
God has written his message very clearly. You must take the time to study and understand it.
Any skilled worker must apprentice and gain experience before they can be considered for the job. It is also so with the Bible.
Some Atheist or instigator can look up and type some parable and decipher it to what they want. I see many here but you cannot explain the ranting questions in such a forum.
Suffice to say you will always see the few trying to prove their point irregardless of the outcome.
It is up to you to filter them out. I cannot police people in my Christian faith however I can choose not to associate with them.

Good luck and God Bless.

Christian here.

I know that Christianity is a walk. The more we study and read and re read the bible, the more that is revealed to us.

There are many Christians that are still on a milk diet, meaning they only know what they are fed and have not yet tasted the meat of Gods word.

As they feel led to grow and walk closer to God, their life should reflect this.

It does hurt when a Christian claims to know all about the word of God, such as that Church in Westboro, and then misuse that very word. I do know that God will take care of them and if the media would give them no attention they would be widely ignored. But because they are so far off base, they are receiving attention that negatively affects Gods very word. I do pray that they see the light of their misguided mission and repent and turn back to God. Even King David needed to be shown that he had sinned against God, because he couldn't see it in himself, but once aware of the Sin, he repented.

Gods message is very clear when read in its entirety. The problem comes in when well meaning people take only a portion of the word and live by that portion alone.

I do not question my faith based upon the actions of others. My faith is between God and myself, no inbetween or others needed.

Thanks for asking!

I am Muslim. People just read and emphasize the part where it says, Gods comanded Muslims to kill the infidels, and many such things.
My main point is, you have to read the entire chapter and see, when and why God said that. It was in those pagan days when people plotted against Prophet Mohammad for preaching Islam, and attacked him and his companions on many occasions. It was then revealed by God, to retaliate. All Islamic wars happened in defence, and not in offence as many people think. So the question about you saying God should have been more specific when it comes to this, is wrong. The good Muslims as you call, know exactly that terrorism is absolutely wrong.

I am embarassed that people use the book to condemn others. Using it to kill makes no sense. i say that the devil is woven in there somewhere. God is love, peace, kindness, warmth. If anything, HE is the one who is to judge and condemn, not us. I believe our job here is to SHOW people Jesus. If you were surrounded by people who were waving their bibles at you, telling you that you're goung to hell, or other nasty things like that, what kind of immpression would you get about Christianity? I don't question my faith or God because of it. My faith is based on my relationship with Jesus himself.

You seem to have alot of questions about right and wrong. I hope you get the right answers you're looking for.

It's annoying and judgemental and I hate it. Sadly, any normal muslim or christian would admit they've been guilty of the same thing. I'm a Christian and I still do judge people not always on purpose and it's a sin and we need to leave judging to God and just teach people about the love and truth in Christianity

It doesn't bother me for I know what is the intention of my religion.
If a few people give it a black-eye, what can I do about it?
The extremists associated with religion have a warped mind to begin with. They think that taking a book will justify evil actions.
What they don't understand is that the man does the evil, not the religion or book.
It doesn't bother me because it just exposes their lack of knowledge.

Hello,

I am a Muslim. In our religion, we are aware of the fact that many people, even who claim to be Muslims too, will not act in accordance with what pleases God. HE has explained us this directly, through His book and the sayings of our Prophet (saws).
This does not question my faith, absolutely. It takes great courage, and action, to follow my religion truly. It is not an easy task. Furthermore, this world, as we believe, is a world of test, so we are aware that there will be challenges and things we do not like, and are ready for them.
As a Muslim, one should strive to show to anyone who comes in your life, whether it is another Muslim or not, the right way to behave according to our beautiful religion. However, one is only responsible for his/her own actions. I cannot and will not take responsibility for Osama Bin Laden´s actions, as much as you do not take responsibility for the actions of those who claim to act in the name of the same things you believe in, but then commit atrocities, and acts of hate and death... (be it the President of the USA or the no-face evil doers that tell him what to do)...

Therefore, I believe that my religion is perfect in that sense as well... I will be accountable for each and every atom or milisecond of action I have commited, for nothing more or less... and Insha Allah, I will have an easy reckoning...
I hope this answers your question, and please do feel free to ask anything anymore, I will try and reply to the best of my understanding...

it saddens me more than it offends me.

those who use the bible to condemn and judge end up causing offenses and keep people from learning the love that God has for them.
also, it encourages stereotypes and makes it harder for the doors of communication to become or stay open.

it doesn't make me question my faith at all. i think Christ was very clear on how we should treat eachother, but the human understanding (painful experiences, taking scripture out of context to suit your own ambitions) and application (our flesh, pride, prejudice) gets in the way.

this was an excellent question. :)

Beware of the wolf in sheep's clothing. There is, and always have been people who stand behind a religion to do harm. Unfortunately, there are a lot of lost souls who will believe anyone with the best story...(how do you think George Bush was elected)
