i currently use nutro for my 2 indoor cats. it's quite expensive and i'd like to find a less expensive cat food that is still high quality. (i pay about $15 for an 8lb bag of nutro right now). any suggestions?

Along with losing a nice, healthy skin, you'd be losing money by switching to a cheaper food (especially Meow-Mix!). Premium foods like Nutro need to be fed less than cheaper foods because your cats don't need to eat as much to be full and to get their daily nutritional supply. If you read the labels, you'll have to feed sometimes twice as much cheap food compared to premium foods per day.
I happen to feed my cat Nutro and my 8lb bag lasts me one month. Of course, more cats means more food to eat, but believe me, you'll save more in the long run. I had my cat on Purina Kitten Chow when I got him and didn't switch for a while, afraid he might not eat (he was a skinny little stray, I wanted him to get fatter). An 8lb bag of Kitten Chow lasted me about 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, most other cat foods along the same premium lines are about the same cost. I reccomend Bil Jac brand if your local pet store has it, but I think it's a regional brand.

We use Purina One.. it's cheaper than nutro, I get an 8lb bag for about 9 dollars I believe and they have different formulas. We have to use the urinary health one. My vet wanted us to use a special Science Diet because our cat has awful urinary tract infections and the Purina has worked just fine.
stay away from store brands (special kitty etc)

Purina One is the cheapest I'd go. Anything cheaper makes their litter box stink too much and if you feed anything with high ash content, could cause Feline Urinary Syndrome...which is no fun for you or the cat.

Purina is a great brand and is the middle of the road on price, you don't want to get cheap stuff it could cause problems for your cats.

try purina one it is about 1/2 the price for the same size bag and it is made with real meat and there are many different varieties such as sensitive systems, hairball, urinary tract formula....go to walmart and check it out good stuff for the cats!!!

Purina Mixes are very good but mix with food you are feeding now to ease transition my kitties get sick if I dont ease their change, ......Psst* my cats get pissed and piss every where if I buy anything cheaper then Purina

My cats love Friskies! They get very excited for it, unlike any other food.
Purina One is less costly and supposed to be good for your cats.

If you don`t have the money to buy at LEAST decent quality cat food, you really shouldnt be owning a pet.
