Diabetes causes increased fat deposits and hardening of the arteries, and smoking causes the constriction of blood vessels throughout your body. The combination of the two can increase your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Diabetes affects your whole body. One thing that it affects is your circulation. Nicotine does, too. It narrows your blood vessles. Diabetics are susceptible to severe circulation problems and smoking could compound that problem immensely. There is no good reason to smoke, anyway, but you are especially at risk for circulation problems (heart attack, stroke, gangrene, etc.) if you're diabetic.
