stay away from brown tequilas and reach for a good quality white like patron silver or herradura or my favorite for margaritas...Sauza Hornitos!, not even the most expensive, it just works really well in a margarita.

Casa Noble Crystal (Silver), although I would prefer to sip it...
"Casa Noble Crystal
The best "silver" tequila - it has no rival.
Many purists believe that tequila is best when it is NOT aged. We feel it is just a matter of taste. But for those who want the best "silver" we created Casa Noble Crystal. We call it Crystal because we believe it is superior to all silver tequilas. It's in a class by itself. Contained in a beautiful hand blown glass decanter, adorned with an exquisite metal engraved label, Casa Noble Crystal has absolutely no rival in this category, and it lets you appreciate the exceptional pureness and glow of this unique tequila.

If its a mixed drink like a Margarita, where the Ice and Salt will help hide any off flavors, buy cheap, especialy if you are making big batches for a party.
Dos Dedos (Two Finger) is not bad... a little hard for sipping, but darn good for mixes. And about 1/2 the price of Quervo.

It depends on what kind of a hang over you are looking for. You can go with the cheap stuff and have a headache the next day or you can go with a top shelf margarita wich is either petron silver or cuervo 1800 and instead of triple sec you use grand mariner.

It really doesn't matter when in it's in a margarita but Jose Cuervo is good for the margarita and Patrone Silver is good for shots.

You get so much salt flavor and lime juice flavor, I don't think it makes any difference.
It's like the ubiquitous high ball. Ginger Ale is so strong in flavor and fizz, I cannot believe anyone would know what whiskey was used.
By the way, a young lady had a Yahoo! Personals ad posted. Her opening line was "Tequila makes my clothes fall off." It that true?
