It's time. Why should a manufacturer build 2 buildings, when he can have two sets of workers who come in at different times? Even if kids only went to school 4 or 5 hours a day year-round, say from 7:30 to 1:00, then another set came in from 1:30 to 7:00, right there is 2 whole buildings. Nine months of school was ok back when kids had to be home to help with the harvest, but how many kids today have to do that? I think year-round schooling makes much more sense. Teachers also wouldn't have to spend 3 months reviewing what kids forgot during the summer months. Oh, and I also think uniforms are an excellent idea, too.

Kids need time to be kids. I have happy memories of summer. The last day of school was pure heaven, knowing that we had months of freedom!! I can see no reason that kids today should not be allowed the time to enjoy life, without the pressure of year round school!
A couple of weeks off every couple of months is not enough time for a kid to relax. They need an extended period to do that. Year round school is a bad idea.

I go back and forth on this one. I know that year round schooling has been shown to help children learn because they don't have three months when they aren't thinking. However, I really enjoyed my summer vacations as a child and look forward to helping my children enjoy theirs.

Anything that keeps kids off of the streets and out of my way is fantastic! We should invent an all day school too. What do kids need to be out of school for? Playing? I don't think so. Playing is for adults.

I agree. Americans now have the most outdated education system in the civilized world. Time for a huge overhaul.

Bad idea.
It then becomes day care instead of education.
