I am cool with praying. I believe it helps give one insight into their problems. However the people who really think they are chatting it up with God...should they be considered insane? It reminds me of Donnie Darko every time I hear one of them say they actually 'talk' with God.

I pray and I listen.

However, terrorists who say, God told me to do it (kill people) are liars.

So how do you differentiate, since both messages are internal? I guess tht is your question.

Like evolution, we have evolved civilly. Violence should no longer be an option in a civil society, unless we accept we have regressed. We need a test, regardless of what people say. Thus, if God tells you to kill or gain power, you are only listening to your own voice, not God.

When you meditate or pray, you get in a state, when you can request or seek guidance from Almighty; most of the time you get his response and guidance in your own voice or sometimes in silence. People can term this chatting with God, because they do not know what is going inside the mind of the person. But this is really true and quite often you are guided with the right answers and your prayers are answered but you have to be sincere in seeking his blessings....this is termed as enlightenment .. but we as human beings often apply our yardstick of rationality and term this as insane

Neurosis maybe, psychosis no. I don't believe I have the talent to forgive, and forget. But I pray for events such as that. Achieving that power would be a quantum leap in human experience. That is the hope...

Ok and to answer the original question.. God does talk to us ... alot of us just don't listen.. He lives within us all...all we have to do is to accept Him He will never push Himself on anyone....God bless all of us..

I know there are people who are mentally ill, they say they talk to God and claim He told them to murder their children, kill a certain person, start a new pure race of people and the like.... you can tell if a person is mentally ill by how they conduct themselves and their expressed views....

Being Christian and having prayer time with God is communication on a spiritual level - not like a phone conversation. We also read the bible, fast, sing songs and make intercessory prayer for others...

The ones who claim that a deity literally answered them back I'd say yes as psychosis is a hallucinogenic break with reality and that would certainly fit.

The act of praying is delusional psychosis!

Your prayers are not going anywhere outside the confines of your head.

When you pray, you are conversing with God on a spiritual level. It's not like you're talking to him on the phone or something, but, you are on some level conversing with him.
