Hey, I just thought that was the American way, regardless of political allegiance! You mean the Republicans are different???

"The average American produces about 40,000 pounds of CO2 emissions per year"

"Though accounting for only 5 percent of the world's population, Americans consume 26 percent of the world's energy. " (American Almanac)

"In 1997, U.S. residents consumed an average of 12,133 kilowatt-hours of electricity each, almost nine times greater than the average for the rest of the world."

"The United States is the world's largest single emitter of carbon dioxide, accounting for 23 percent of energy-related carbon emissions worldwide." (U.S. Department of Energy)

Do you think America is trying to use global warming to save on their fuel bills?

Gore's oil holdings have been well-known for some time now, and this editorial is on really really flismy ground. The guy was just looking to poke holes in Gore's image, and surprise! a politician has some contradictions. Fortuantely, unlike conservatives, who have slavish fascistic devotion to their human icons, liberals understand that people are individuals and it's the ideas that are important.

what a hypocrite! although i believe we should do something about global warming, i'm not nearly as extreme as Gore claims to be. seems to me like he just wants attention, possibly for a run at the white house. i would never vote for him.

That's pretty funny! It's very expensive to be green. If anyone could afford it, it would be him. Hummmm....
