Families are different. My family was always more open and affectionate than my ex's, who to me appeared distant with each other, yet that was what they were comfortable with. I used to joke that my ex-mother-in-law liked me better than my ex. Spend time with the people you love and enjoy being with. Life's too short to waste on people who make us miserable, and enjoy doing so.

It's odd HUH???
My husband's family treats him like is still the hell raiser he was at 25. He is a totally different man now @ 47. I know what he was like, we grew up together, but he is NOT THAT MAN ANYMORE!!!
I don't know how close you live to your in-laws, but we are like 2500 miles from his, so they actually DON'T REALLY KNOW the man he is today. But they need to TRY to see it. My family knows my husband from then until now also & they don't treat him like his own family does. I can't figure it either!!!!
I hope all works out for you though. I know not everyone has the luxury of being able to be 2500 miles from people who seem to WANT to either butt-in or cause trouble. All the Best!!!

It looks like that because his parents have much liberty on him, as they brought him in his life taking many pains & sacrificing their dreams. To look after you well by your husband your family give respect to him much more than your in -laws. That means selfishness makes your family like that. Just give a athought if he is not ur husband your family has no concerned but his parents are his parents. If you feel as you mentioned in your question it is ok but not by ur husband.

Let's see your in laws would be your husband's family, right? They must feel like he married the wrong girl...They probably had a friend's daughter, in mind, for him and you disrupted their plans...Maybe things will change after you give them grandchildren...Let's hope so...They can only lose by their actions...

in laws are like that. my mother in law at one point was trying to turn my husband against me, by telling him i was lazy and all crap like that. pissed me off and we even separated a bit because of her, i couldn't stand it anymore. now we're back together and he has told his mother his thoughts. it's pretty bad when my ex-fiance's parents treated me better than my own mother in law.
