The ADA Professional Product Review™ (PPR) is a newsletter designed to give members and subscribers the inside track on products used in patient care. Delivered quarterly with the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA), the newsletter offers laboratory performance data and clinician feedback on three categories of products, like endodontic posts, digital X-ray systems and carbide burs.

Throughout the year, ADA scientists test various brands in each product category. In addition, colleagues who use these products offer input on their experiences through the ADA Clinical Evaluator (ACE) Panel.

When possible, the newsletter also carries additional information like expert panel discussions, buyer’s checklists, and new technology updates. Occasionally, the Association will sponsor focus groups and hands-on forums to collect feedback from practitioners about select products. Outcomes from such sessions will be reported either in the newsletter or here, on the Web site.

You also can look to the website for supplemental resources like user tips to improve product performance, literature reviews, and other material intended to help you make smarter product choices.

dental floss is number 1.
suction tips for their vacuum hoses, Drill bits for their drills, cotton gauze pads, tooth filling material, X-ray blanks. A lot of the stuff used by dentists are given to them by their suppliers.

Ted's answer looks pretty good, but are you referring to dollars spent or quantity purchased? There might be a big difference in the lists.
