Is it more likely for there to be a Heavyweight championship tournament?

Maskaev beating Rachman is a watershed moment in heavyweight history. For the first time since before Joe Louis, no portion of the title is held by a black American. No more jokes about 'the great white hope.' All recognised titles are held by marginal white fighters from Eastern Europe, consequently no one in the States really cares about the title anymore.

Hell no! I do believe Don King is promoting 2 of the champs so if that's true then the other 2 champs would have to agree to terms to put their belts up for a tournament which is unlikely to happen. None of the current HW champions are really big box office draws expect in their native countries which doesn't count in Vegas! We, the Americans, need a real contender to unify the belts again and not some pretender to the throne like Rahman. If you didn't see him losing that fight before the bell even rang to start the fight in the first place then you need a reality check! Stevie Wonder could see he was going to lose that fight, the guy in plain English sucks! He had his time in the sun BUT his time is over now.

Eventhough I would be in favor of a tournament, it won't happen. Too many greedy, money hungry promoters and self serving individuals in the fight game. Here's what I believe we will be seeing over the next 9 months. One of the Klitschko's will inherit atleast one of the belts.I guess that means either Vladimir will either have 2, or, his bruddher will fight again and win...imagine that! I also think that a blast from the past will re-emerge on the scene and bring the fame and the glory back to the heavyweight division. Remember, I told you, on this day, live from Houston Texas. I am not sure who it'll be, but, don't count Rahman, Roy, Lennox, or, Evander out of the running. There are a few guys out there still training, and, still looking to establish/re-establish themselves as King. It may not be none of the guys I mentioned, but, then again.....maybe. Personally, I think we'll know just how long the Holyfield UN-retirement will last after Friday night on Fox Sports Network. Lennox, on the other hand is playing the "wait and see" game.....if the right numbers are mentioned, he'll be back. I smell something brewing. The heavyweight division needed something crazy like this to shake it up, it's about to get funky ya'll. Who will it be? Sam Peter, David Tua, Holyfield, Byrd, Klitschko, Tyson (I can't believe I typed that), Briggs, Ruiz,Sultan Ibragimov, Sam, Brock, Jirov,Gulota, Brewster,Toney, or, Riddick Bowe? Crazy--yes it is, that's why we love it.

Ric ~
A tournament would be nice, but it seems like you've been following boxing for quite some time and know that this will never happen. There is so much greed out there, primarily from the promoters and governing bodies that they will never allow this to happen. It would be great to hear "The Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World" but I think that is going to be many years down the road my friend. As long as there's the Kings and Arums being the puppet masters die hard fans like you and I will have to sit back a throw $49.95 out the window to watch these so called "World title bouts" we can't help it Ric, it's in our blood.

With the loopy alphabet champions and superchampions, etc, i take advantage of the ring magazine gadget of determining champions. top now, they have the heavyweight identify listed as "vacant" and it will stay that way until eventually a figther unifies the titles or the #a million and #2 fighters contained in the branch meet. The final "white" individual to have achieved that replaced into Vitali Klitschko in 2004. simply by being stricken by utilising injuries, he had to relinquish the identify and it has remained vacant because. earlier him, the final "white" individual to be known because of the fact the genuine heavyweight champion replaced into Ingemarr Johanssen of Sweden. Gerrie Cotzieh (spelling???) and Tommy Morrison the two had variations of the identify yet weren't known because of the fact the genuine champion.

There should be it would generate more interest in the heavyweight division.
But Maskaev wants his adopted land to look past his accent and his European technical style. This U.S. immigrant feels he's the only American heavyweight champion left.

I think each Champ has a different promoter which would make a tournament unlikely. titles are worth gold to the fighters themselves so they will try to milk them for as long as possible.

This will never happen, beacause there is too much money to be made with different organizations

There should be. Does it mean that white boxers are better now than blacks in the heavyweight?
