Judges 19
1 While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him."
2 The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing.
3 Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But to this man, don't do such a disgraceful thing."
4 But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go.
5 At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
6 When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold.
7 He said to her, "Get up; let's go." But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.
8 When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel.
9 Everyone who saw it said, "Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Think about it! Consider it! Tell us what to do!"

Cutting even the Jewish women's hands for the most ridiculous reasons!
Deuteronomy 25
10 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts,
11 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.
The reason I added this verse is because even women are treated as enemies and are maimed in the worst way for even the silliest mistakes they make.
What is the point from this brutality? Why does the Bible contain overwhelming amount of body-maiming verses What is the role of God in this story? What moral lesson you learnt from it?

I still don't get why everyone who hates the Bible feels that when they find a scripture documenting crimes, cruelty, or evil they think they've really got something. Oh boy! Now I'll learn those Christians real good! I found a place in the Old Testament where it says they played frog baseball and raped monkeys. Since in my small mind I think that the Bible is only supposed to contain good and happy things it must mean that the Bible is false and I am therefore superior to all. You friggin' moron. If you really care to learn about the Bible why don't you do some actual research at a seminary or something.

For the first part of the question, it was a holy man (a levite, and a priest before God on hehalf of the people) on his way to the house of the Lord that was in the house, and the man did not want to send him out to the evil people in the town.

He sent out his concubine instead, which was the same as a prostitute, only she was owned by one man, the virgin daughter was probably hers and because she was daughter of a concubine was not a ligitamate child and had no claim to the household.

The concubine died, and he cut her body up and sent the pieces to the rest of Israel as a message of just how depraved the people were and the judgement that would follow. It caused the people to cry out for mercy from God.

The second part of the question doesnt exist, i dont know what bible you're reading it out of. But none of mine have that verse. Instead it talks about oxen treading grain on the threshing floor.

The story you in fact quoted is one of the two gruesome appendices of Judges. One was how Mannasses and one Dan how they both fell into corruption. Sadly the two greatest heroes of Judges were Gideon of Manasses and Sampson of Dan and this shows how easily man can fall into corruption and illustrates it very very well, the pessimistic theme of Judges being 'every man did that which was right in his own eyes'

there are only a few such stories

I can think of about 4 in a long long book

because

1) it reports significant things
2) rape is sin and it shows how corrupt people can be
3) it never condones it and in fact rape is a crime under Moses

you also have to remember sometimes the Bible reports something without comment and you may err in assuming it was something acceptable

What is the point from this brutality?

There is no point sensible or otherwise for the brutality as far as the victims were and are concerned. People do brutal things because they can.
They usually will gain or prosper doing such things.

Why does the Bible contain overwhelming amount of body-maiming verses What is the role of God in this story? What moral lesson you learnt from it?

The Bible was written about man by man, therefore the brutality
shines through.
God has no role in this, it is usually the surrogates of God claiming sovereignty that do the brutal things in God' name.
Moral lessons are as changeable as the wind.
The morality depends on who is doing the blowing.

God doesn't pull His punches or whitewash events. When it comes to pointing out sin, even if it's the 'good guy' doing it, He will expose them. The concubine was dead by the time she was cut up as evidence of the crime.
As to the law about cutting a woman's hand off, could it possibly be because she grabbed him that way in order to end his reproductive days? Likely much!

Why not try reading other areas/books of the Bible?

Keep things in perspective as well, the "Bible" is written by MAN, actually by various MEN. Regardless of the reason it is written, either to convey what "God" said or "Jesus" said, or to just ramble on about some guys thoughts, it is a story book.

No one alive right now was there, and too much "information" in the "Bible" contradicts itself. Also consider, there are hundreds of "religions", who is right and who is wrong?

These are the points/questions that have me simply believing that there is a "God", but religion as a concept, is a scam, sorry, that's my opinion!

Because there is nothing new under the sun. There is a time for all things. Read Ecclesiastes (unsure of spelling). Also one of David's daughters was raped by one of his sons. This shows you how the same evil that is here today existed back then. The devil has no new tricks, he just tries to invent new ways to commit old sins. No matter what you go through, you can read about it in the Bible.

The first depicts a wicked city. It displays the wickedness of the city to be destroyed.

The second is a law that basically says that defending yourself, while being defended (or some such thing) is no reason to do something that you would recoil from otherwise (that is to touch a strange mans privates).

do not doubt God using Bible. Bible become written with the aid of many authors over thousands of years. that is not a unmarried e book as you considered. it is a selection of sixty six books. Jesus made each and every thing instantly. His practise is present day in 4 books of the Bible - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and nowhere else contained in the Bible. study those 4 books of the Bible and comprehend the reality.

You write that even women are maimed for even the silliest mistake.

I gotta ask - how can it be a mistake to reach out and grab a man by his genitals. Did she think it was a hand? Did she think it was a thumb and he was hitchhking?
