They like thin hairs. Black people get lice just like white people do, but blonde hairs are much more condusive to the little parasites as the hairs themselves are thinner and easier to get around in.

They come from nature, just like fleas and tape worms. They are not always caused by filthy living conditions, although they prefer to not be disturbed, thats why children get them so often.

Head lice are not as likely to occur on black people's hair because of the texture. They prefer hair that is straighter and thick over hair that is curly. Also there are alot of hair products that blacks use that would deter egg laying by head lice. Anything that makes the hair shaft slick. It is not true that they only happen in dirty people or filthy living conditions. It can be transferred from one child to another in school if they sit close to each other, share a hat or a comb or anything that comes in contact with the hair.

Head lice also come from rats. We had some furniture that was in storage for awhile, and when we got it out we found out that a family of rats had temporarily made a home in the bottom of the couch...but they were long gone. However, when we got the couch home I cleaned it and it seemed like everything was fine. Then my youngest child got head lice from taking his afternoon naps on the couch!

The color of the hair has nothing to do with it, although fleas DO have an attraction to lighter colors. It is the texture of hair that attracts them. They will stay on hair shafts that are a good choice for egg laying...the straighter, thicher, and cleaner, the better! Hair that is oily is not what they prefer. In oliy hair the eggs do not stick on the hair shaft.

It is not an "infection", it's an "infestation".

a large possibility is that white people's brains are easier to infect
than the minds of black people.... The head lice/fleas/whatever... get into the white brain and sort of twist it. I am not sure of the statistics, but I think that once the first head lice gets started, it is almost impossible to find all the rest....

anyway... all you really need to do is hide out in your room and get yourself some special shampoo and relax... it will be over when it's over... why waste the last of your time until the problem is solved, worried?

Sorry to burst some peoples bubbles but black people dont get head lice they too much oil in their hair. I dont know where head lice come from but I have read about them. Just because a child gets head lice does not mean they are unclean. As a matter of fact head lice love clean heads better than dirty ones.

Lice don't like our hair. It's usually too dry. We usually have to add oil to our hair. That's why we wash it less. Black folks can get lice too, but whites are more likely. So, all of you racists trying to suggest that black people are nasty and white people are clean need to really check yourselves!

Copied and pasted from the CDC:

Anyone who comes in close contact (especially head-to-head contact) with someone who already has head lice is at greatest risk. Occasionally, head lice may be acquired from contact with clothing (such as hats, scarves, coats) or other personal items (such as brushes or towels) that belong to an infested person. Preschool and elementary-age children, 3-11, and their families are infested most often. Girls get head lice more often than boys, women more than men. In the United States, African-Americans rarely get head lice. Personal hygiene or cleanliness in the home or school has nothing to do with getting head lice.

i really dont think color has anything to do with this altho i never seen a black person with lice. lice comes from human contact. you can get it when you are in close quarters with a lot of people, school, after school groups other children/students, the gym, your neighbors and its one of the nastiest things to get ridd of. they say 2 applications of lice shampoo will do it but if you got it from someone and they dont treat themselves then you have to do it all over again. some people have body lice and thats on thier private parts you get that from having sex with an infected person, you treat it the same way you do head lice

Head lice come from other people with head lice. I didn't know that Caucasians get lice more frequently than the other two races.

Not trying to be rude, black ppl hair is oily and white ppl is not ( if they wash it ). Lice are attracted to clean, not oily hair. That is why it is not as bad in Jr high or middle school as it is in elementary school. When puberty hits the hair gets oily. It's not bad to get lice, it is bad not to get rid of them.
