Let me start off by saying im an 18 year old Samoan male, play football, basketball and such in high school, I am currently active in boxing. Recentley I have decided I wanted to go to the military rather than college.

But the real question is which branch of the military should I swear into? I have already gone through MEPS in the Air Force and passed the ASVAB (71 AFQT percentile), but then and there I chose not to swear in because I wanted to talk with all the Branches of the military. I have already done that and really still cant decide, each one of the recruiters mention some sort of special forces to me AF (CCT) Navy (SEALs) and USMC (Force Recon) I am kind of intrested in that MOS and KNOW I can do it, but I really don't plan on making it career so I would'nt want the military to waste their time training me in those specialties, and if I do something like that will I ever have time for my GF or family for the next 4 years? BTW I also plan on being a police officer after.

Ok, no matter which branch you choose, special forces will take alot of your time away from family. The AF has the best food, facilities, and medical. The Navy might be the safest as you wouldn't be on the front lines, but a few miles out. When I was in the Navy, I learned that the Marines are the bullet stoppers and the Army are the grunts. I was in the Navy for awhile, and while you do go out to sea for 6mths at a time, it is tolerable and a lot of fun. Just don't have children; that can be rough to be gone for so long and miss so much. Good luck to you and thank you for choosing to serve your country.

Hey buddy, I am in almost the same position as you are in deciding which military branch to join. I am 18 years old and I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. The only difference is that I am going to University and at the same I am goin to join ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps). I think you should really consider it man. By the time I get my major in psychology, I would have also become an officer in the military at the same time. Most likely I am thinking of joining the Army ROTC and choosing either to go Infantry or Military Police. As an officer in whichever branch you choose, you can get college scholarships, you will get more training, more pay, and by the time you become an officer you will demand more respect as an officer. Being an officer (usually 2nd Lieutenant) means that you will be kissing less *** as compares to a corporal or a private. When I get out of the military I also plan to become a police officer, so believe me when I say this is the best route to take. Most colleges andUniversities have ROTC so it is not too late for you. Good luck my friend!

It seems that if you don't want to make a career out of the military, then Special Forces is not the way to go. Because you are interested in law enforcement then being an MP would be the way to go. All branches of the military have MP or an equivalent police type MOS.

nicely 1st, it seems such as you opt to circulate Air rigidity. 2d, call and MEET a recruiter from each and every branch, that's a huge decision, so spend it sluggish somewhat thinking approximately it :). contained in the army, a minimum of right here regionally, you may circulate GFAD, that's shelter for an afternoon and a minimum of get a top into what an afternoon at situation-unfastened instruction for a soldier contained in the army (it somewhat is a similar for national Guardsmen and lively military) would be like, so as that's unquestionably nicely worth asking approximately. once you're going for college, it somewhat is asserted that military and AF have greater downtime, so as that they have got greater possibility to take classes whilst they're lively for unfastened. Take the ASVAB, consult with recruiters, discover out what jobs you qualify for :).

Witch ever choice you make keep in mind you don't just start out in these "special forces" (You don't start out as a manger) the recruiters job is to fill a quota, and while they certainly cant lie to you about what the military has to offer they also don't have to offer advise. ask alot of questions like (navy seals) what is required to become one, in cases like that usually it ll be 4 years before you start you actual seals training. There's a reason that every one in the military isn't billy bad a**, because sometimes the training to become one is just to long or strenuous, and was not what they expected. So i say ask alot of question before making your decision.
What ever you decide i wish you luck.
The MP thing is a really great idea. I would advise doing that, it is closer to what you ultimately want to become.

If your interest is in becoming a police officer, I would suggest that you join the Army and select their Military Police as a unit.

You will be sent to Military Police School and learn the profession so that you can be "police-qualified" when you get out and apply to a local Police Department.

Well I was in the Air Force for six years but based on your question I would think that you would do better in the Marines. If you join the Marines you would get better experience for becoming a police officer once you get out.

I would say all the branches have law enforcement divisions. I might also suggest the coast guard you can be very active in stopping the drug trade and build a career in law enforcement all at the same time. It's also a blast riding those small boats thru the surf.

Believe me they will get their time from you. An Army Special Forces contract is generally 6 years. But the bonus makes it well worth the time. Plus you will make rank really fast. Take my word, been there and done that. Huaah!

Unless it is your choice, you get hot meals and dry beds in the Navy and Air Force, Both offer training on personnel management and law inforcement.
