I shouted at a cyclist who was about to run me over, and this happened about a month ago. I screamed very loudly and for a while. It did the trick, and I did not get run over 'cos he heard me. but my throat still feels like I have just shouted. What can I do?

You strained your vocal cords. You must allow them to rest by speaking very softly and as little as possible so they can heal. It might take a week or so but it certainly will beat having permanently damaged vocal cords and a rough husky voice.

Luckily he did not run over you.Have you started to gargle with salt water or anything else. Sounds to me like you have really strained your vocal cords. I would advise you to go to your doctor asap.Do a whispering talk when you talk this may relieve pressure on your vocal cords. Take care!

steam it. sounds like you've strained the muscles. steam will soften the vocal cords and ease the feeling. gently hum to massage the voice box and keep it warm. don't have ice cold drinks or ice lollies this will make it worse. try vocalzone lozenges. if you still have problems in three more days go to the doctor.

Your vocal cords need time to heal!! Do not scream anymore! Use Listerine to clean your mouth and throat (do not drink it)!!

rest your vocal cords, gargle with warm salt water, a couple three shakes to a juice glass of warm tap water. tastes crappy but it should soothe. dont drink it though.
If it doesnt feel better, id see a doctor.
