About to retire want to spend time in canada and balance traveling states. As a part year resident(non working) can you get an apt. and just retire up there? I know canadians come to florida for half the year,i`d like to relax and fish and travel.any feed back welcome or sites that might help

You can spend the same amount of time in Canada that Canadians spend in the US - six months less a day. Beyond that, you need a visa.
Enjoy your fishing -- but don't forget to get a visitor's licence!

Your passport allows you to stay in the Country up to 6months. You would be entering as a visitor and provided you only stay the alloted time you would be fine. As far as an apartment and retiring, don't see why you can't.

Tell them you are a consciencious observer fleeing an unjust war and you can spend the rest of your natural life there with full government benefits.

I believe it is 6 months less a day.
