I John 4:1 - "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits [put the spirits and their teachings to the test] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

The Old Testament is riddled with passages of God warning His people against false prophets. But now in the church age, false teachers still abound on every side. The apostle Paul warned of these wolves dressed in sheep's clothing who will draw away many by subtle enticements and off-centered false teaching, and he also indicated that men will become less responsive to truth as the age draws to its end.

How do you recognize a false prophet? To best guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers - know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Here are some questions you might want to consider when testing a bible teacher:

What does this teacher say about Jesus?
Does this teacher preach the gospel?
Does this teacher exhibit character qualities that glorify the Lord?

If a preacher denies that Jesus is equal with God, downplays Jesus’ substitutionary death, or rejects Jesus’ humanity, then it's a counterfeit. If a Bible teacher presents a gospel aside from the good news concerning Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection according to the scriptures, then it is false.

Yes!!!!!! First I guess you should see what a false phophet is. They are the ones that say just belive and you will receive eternal life. Well that just about covers all the worship places in the world today. A true prophet would be saying the same thing that the savior taught. Repent for the Kingdom is at hand. In our world today the preachers are telling all their congregation that they can do what they want if they will just belive in Jesus that he paid the price for them and now they owe nothing. Where is the repentance? What are we suppose to repent of? l john 3:4 says Whoever commits sin, trangresses also the law: for sin is the breaking of the Law. In Ex.20 we are given 10 commandments. Out of the 613 Laws we are exspected to keep. These are not taught by the churches of the world today. So where do you think the false prophets are? The first cammandment says that we are to have no hinder gods they are in opposition to the creator. Who's name is not god, It's Yahweh. If they are not teaching in the name of the creator they are false prophets. Look it up on wikipedia under House of Yahweh or Yisraly Hawkins. This is a seriuos question you have asked. I hope you take This response seriously as well. The time to belive is now. Nuclear war will begin Sept. 12- 2006. Belive it now or wait til then but you could be a step ahead if you start now. Remmember when I said in the beging that just about covers every place of worship today. There is one with the truth. The House of Yahweh in Abilene Texas.

There are many places in the Bible where we are warned of false prophets (1 Kings 22, Jeremiah 28, Deuteronomy 13:1-5, and Deuteronomy 18: 14-21). God gave rules for distinguishing true prophets from false prophets. A false prophet may speak in the name of other gods. Even if this prophecy was accompanied by miracles, the people were not to believe in Him. False prophets today may say they speak the Word of God, but their words (or so-called truths) are not truth according to the Bible. You really have to research for yourself. Read the Bible and get to know it well. That way, when someone says something that disagrees with the teachings of our Lord, you will know it.

Matthew 24 (NIV):

26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'[c]

30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[d]is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation[e] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

The fig tree is a symbol for Israel. It became a sovereign nation in 1948. Anyone born since 1948 will likely see Jesus' return.

If you know the bible, you can tell when they lie or miss represent it. Remember what they say and search the bible to is if it is so. A false profit will twist, give half truth, and even totally lie.

Example (simple)
"Money is the root of all evil" is this true? If you have money or know someone with money are they evil are can be easily fall to evil? Should you if you have extra money get rid of it? Was this Abraham's sin, he was rich?

Well the truth is this:
"The LOVE of money is the root of all evil"
Now it makes sense at least to me.

1 Tim 6
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

one ingredient that could deliver relief is that those letters were written on to human beings residing in Jesus' day. They were contained in the unique position of transitioning between the former and new covenants, (30-70AD)and there replaced into lots at stake. in the adventure that they did not understand the actuality from blunders, they could be left in the back of contained in the Roman Jewish warfare, the position the temple in Jerusalem replaced into destroyed. (information prepare that all and distinctive the Christians did certainly heed the indications and fled Jerusalem) So those verses are literally not for us right now, because we are all born into the recent covenant of grace (ever because 70AD) and there is not any more effective pretend prophets because prophesy has ceased. The opt for replaced into also touching on the firstfruit Christians. we are very blessed to be residing in this time, the position Christ reigns on the throne of His invisible kingdom, and Christ in us, the early Christians' desire of glory, is now our present religious actuality!

Yes...I don't understand...why don't you just read the bible yourself so that you can be knowledgeable on the subject, and then ask questions about what you don't understand? If you are going to believe in something or nothing, you have to have all of the facts first.

Use the index, or a search engine on a bible website. But I would also suggest reading about God's love and forgiveness too. Nobody is going to believe all of the bad stuff unless they believe in God's love first.
