About a half cup per quart, so start with 1 1/2 cups. Add more if needed.

You can always add the sugar but you can't take it out. Start with a small amount... say 1/4 cup and then adjust how much more you put in from that point. Just add sugar until it tastes like you want it because it will taste different to you than to someone else.

I am from the south so I like my tea nice and sweet...but its not syrupy...I use about a cup and a half...more or less to taste...it always works if you use a cup and keep adding until you like the taste you get!
