i gave out my number to a guy friend of mine, and he took it as a serious gesture. i only wanna be friends, so how do i let him down easily?

You better tell him or you will get in deeper and deeper. It will just get harder and harder. I found a long time ago if i am not intrested in a woman do not ever accept anything from her and never give her anything. No matter if she ask me to come over and fix her computer I will not do it because she is just trying to get me over there and it is a connection I don't want. Been there and done that.

look, it's easy for guys to be misled we have 2 heads, and the wrong 1 always acts first.but do yourself a favor and just tell him straight out.but if he's infatuated with you it could take more than just telling him the truth.also look at it from his side"you can't catch a fish,if you don't go fishing!!!

Just tell him how you feel, doing this will get the point across and he can take it however he feels.
Its not up to you to choose his reaction, thats his choice. Control only that which in controlable by you.
