The United Pentecostal Church preaches the original message of salvation that Peter preached on the day of Pentecost in the Book of Acts chapter 2 verse 38-39. The UPCI is not legalistic as most assert out of ignorance and hatred. The UPCi baptizes in the name of Jesus of Christ which is the fulfillment of Jesus's command in Matthew 28:19. The UPCI teaches that repentance is essential to salvation. That one must turn away from their sin and give their lives to God whole heartedly. The UPCI believes that when one recieves the Holy Ghost they will speak in tongues as the Spirit itself gives the ability. It is the outward, initial sign that someone has been filled with the Holy Ghost ( Acts 2:4, Acts 19:6). The UPCI teaches that separation from the world is a Biblical command and should be pursued. Most often you will find this referred to as "Holiness" or standards that again most confuse as legalism and phariseeism. The UPCi teaches that righteousness comes from Jesus and Jesus alone and that His holiness on the inside will produce on the outside. The UPCI teaches that there is only ONE God and that He manifested Himself as the Father in creation, the Son in redemption, and the Holy Ghost in the Church. They do not teach the doctrine of the Trinity as it is considered to be an extra-biblical doctrine and contradictory to logic and scripture. They believe that Jesus is the one God manifest in flesh. God is not three persons, He is only one person and His name is Jesus. That is also why they baptize in Jesus name because the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost spoken of in Matthew 28:19 is in fact Jesus. The UPCi loves God, they love to worship, they love the Bible and they love people. Some can be very arrogant and are not good representations of the church in general. The great majority of the UPCi are very loving and awesome people who truly love God and have a devotion to Him that is unseen in modern denominational churches. I highly recommend that you attend and seek after the baptism of the Holy Ghost. If you have not been already, ask to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, as the Bible teaches. You will be wonderfully changed and your walk with God will be set on fire with devotion, passion, and stedfastness. For more information visit this link: www.upci.org. Or feel free to email me for more information on the Bible or the UPCI etc...

One final thought, the UPCi is NOT a cult! Shame on anyone who passes such judgement. They are a Church of the living God and those who pass such judgement need to pray for their spirit is not right. I encourage you to pray and God will lead you if you truly desire to know Him deeper, and I will be willing to bet good money, that if you allow God to lead you, you will find yourself at that churches altar weeping in the awesome presence of our Lord. God Bless you and read your Bible.

Catheyhewed is right. They do not believe in the trinity the way most other churches do because they say that would mean three separate gods, and that would be similar to idolatry.

Also, they believe that they must be baptized in water and by spirit (speaking in tongues) or they are not saved. I knew of someone who lived in a small town where the church had no baptism tank. They used to baptize people in the local river, but with it being frozen in the winter, they could not do baptisms until the summer. The guy was petrified that he would go to hell because he had not been baptized yet.

They are more strict than other pentecostal churches. Most of their women do not cut their hair or wear earrings, makeup, etc. They are a far cry from Tammy Faye Bakker or Jan Crouch !!

They do not believe in the Trinity in the same way as Trinitarian Pentecostals. They believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one. Therefore they baptize in the name of Jesus. Trinitarian
The Pentecostals baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
They believe in speaking in tongues as evidence of salvation.
They believe that women should wear dresses, not pants . . . not cut their hair . . .not wear makeup . . .not wear jewelry.
Pastors are not allowed to have television and the Pastor encourages the congregation to follow his example.
I hope I have not discouraged you. I have been with Pentecostals and find them to be onfire for God. I might suggest that you fellowship with them for a while. You can always fellowship and do not have to become a member.
There are already to many divisions in the Protestant Christian Churches.
Be blessed,
Cathy

hey Sharon, you will get a lot of weird answers on this site at any time. it seems to attract the weird. but to answer your first question the united Pentecostal Church believes the same as most penticostal churches, with small differences. that Jesus is the son of God, that he died for our sins, that he arose from the dead and that he sent the Holy Spirit to teach and comfort us. they also believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which is a step deeper in the Spirit. their doctrine most closely resembles the four square Church, with very little differences for the Assembly's of God.

Manny M. Sounds like the Catholic Church to me. But unlike the Catholic Church, I believe that the Pentecostal scare people by preaching damnation. That all humans are sinners. That if they don't repent they will be cast into everlasting damnation. They also preach liberal contribution to their church as a condition for everlasting reward.

Well, I used to live on the same block as one of these churches and the pastor's wife was a freak who would try to hold you down and tell you the only way to Jesus was through her, (she'd walk around the block accosting people in this manner).
