Your better off using DVD-R for burning movies. DVD-R is better choice because:

1. Cheaper than DVD-RW.
2. If you plan on keeping the movie then you don't need rewriteable media.
3. With each subsequent use of DVD-RW , the video quality decreases

I recommend you use TDK, Sony and/or Memorex brands. No name brands are cheaper but expect to make a lot of coasters from failed burning. You can purchase a spindle of (TDK, Sony or Memorex) DVD-R 50 blanks for as low as $14.95 USD from Staples (when on sale).

You can use either. I certainly do. You do however have to note that not all DVD players support DVD-RW DVDs'. If you rather play it safe, use DVD-R. I prefer DVD-RWs' personally because I can simply erase the DVD and burn something new onto it rather than burning multiple write once DVDs'

As for brands, I would recommend the following:

> Sony
> Fuji
> Philips
> JVC

dvd-r's are best, as far as brand, i would use either sony, or if you need something cheaper memorex (NEVER use generic brand cd-r/rw's or dvd-r/rw's)
