Ask your vet about feeding newborn kittens. There is special kitten formula and bottles for feeding. Be sure to ask about how often it should be fed. Take good care of it, it's depending on you for it's life! Good luck!

The kitten sounds like she is about 1 wk old. You will have to feed her with a mother's milk substitute that is found in Pet Smart or Petco, with an eyedropper or a syringe. As the kitty gets older, introduce her to some wet kitten food mixed with water. Put the mixture near her nose and hopefully he will respond. I have tried stage #1 baby food, using just my finger, if not responding to other foods. Make sure you keep her warm and gently cleanse the surrounding eye area. I've used saline solution mixed with water and all my stray kittens' have survived. You might need to stimulate the kitten to go to the bathroom, just as mother cats' do. Try to be very patient, take a damp (soft) slightly wet cloth and press against the rear end.

When the kitten is 5-6 weeks old she will probably want to eat whole foods like some wet KITTEN food. As she gets older you can introduce some dry kitten food mixed with the wet.

Kept her away from outlets, cords, large feet and any chemicals.
I knew someone who's kitten chewed through an electrical lamp cord and was actually electrocuted, but after the juice was turned off, Tiger was burned about the mouth but still lives on today! Good luck to you for this will be a rewarding experience.

ps Always check the kitty with a veterinarian when you can.

You'll need to bottle feed it every 4 or 5 hours. Get milk replacer made for kittens ONLY. It must be warmed up. Make sure the nipple in the bottle is not too big or it will suck milk into it's lungs. If the hole is too small, it won't be able to get enough. Have your vet show you how. Keep the kitten belly down on a towel to feed, not on it's back. Stimulate it to go to the bathroom by using warm water and cotton balls to rub its genitals until it goes after each feeding. Use a heating pad set on low under the box at one end to offer supplemental heat (never on high and never IN the box). The box should be big enough that the kitten can move away a little from the heated end if it gets too hot. He will have a nice round tummy and sleep quietly if he is doing well. At around 2 weeks old, get some dewormer from your vet (pyrantel pamoate) and start a deworming regimen. Please see your vet ASAP for detailed instructions. Good luck! :)

I once raised a litter of five kittens who were orphaned 48 hours after birth when the mother cat was killed by a bicycle.

Immediately, that is to say RIGHT NOW, you'll need to get some "mother's milk", either canned liquid or packaged powder. Check with PetCo or a well-stocked pet section at a grocery store. You can get it from a vet but it will probably be more expensive, though a vet may be able to offer you more advice than I.

Please note that cow milk, or any other milk but cat's milk, is NOT GOOD and will make the kitten sick!

You'll also need a small kitten bottle & nipple in order to feed it, and you'll need to mix a fresh serving of warm milk every few hours for feeding at the same intervals that the mother cat would nurse her young, and do this every day and night until the kitten is weaned.

After each and every nursing, the mother cat stimulates the kittens to urinate & deficate by licking their waste disposal vents under the base of their tail (that would be the pee-pee thing and the poo-poo thing). This is perfectly normal and acceptable for cats, though as a human you'll probably need to brace yourself for the experience. You can use a clean washrag or sponge dampened with room temperature water, or you can hold the kitten's butt under running room temperature water and gently rub their vents with your finger or a sponge to get them to pee & poo, then dry the kitten after with a soft towel. The idea here is to simulate the mother cat's tongue, and if you don't do this the kitten will not pee or poop properly, which can lead to urinary tract infection, constipation, and other problems.

The mother also cleans the kittens all over with her tongue regularly, so I would use a lightly dampened washrag or sponge to gently keep the kittens cleaned from head to toe at least once a day. This not only keeps them clean but also helps to teach them to clean themselves.

This whole procedure will tend to bond you very closely to the kitten, so prepare yourself to have a furry friend for the life of your cat ... not to mention one heck of a guardian angel once it passes :o)

Good luck!

Oh I was end. it will be very rewarding. Maybe get a kitten book from the library or bookstore. Use a syringe to feed it commercial cat milk formul every 2-4 hours. Don't feed it cows milk because it doersn't have the right nutrients. Orphaned kittens who are too young to urinate and defecate should be stimulated to do so by rubbing with a damp washcloth after each meal, at the base of their spine where the tail begins. Gradually as they reach one month of age, the kittens are weaned and begin to eat solid food. Also make sure you give it lots of attention and love.

Go to your pet store. They have kitten formula, bottles, nipples, the works. Just ask someone there what supplies you will need and they should help you out tremendously.
My dad had a kitten once in the same predicament, he stuck a can of soft food in her box and left her there. Like that helped. I was so mad, I took her home, fixed her up, and she was fine. I named her Mau Mau cause all she did was cry.
Good luck, I hope this helps.

The pet store has baby kitten formula that you can buy and little bottles too. That baby needs to be fed alot and in the middle of the night too. If it's too much for you call the vet and he may be able to put you in touch with rehabilitator who can take care of the baby until it can be adopted.

I had a mother cat that died and her babies didn't have their eyes open. I asked the vet what to do and he told me to mix 1 raw egg, a cup of milk and a tablespoon of Karo. Warm it and put it in pet bottles. This worked real well and they all survived. The middle of the night feeding is murder but just like all babies they grow out of it. Tepid temperature is all you want. Not hot.
