CNN reported in 2005 that the average wedding now costs just over $23,000.
But an average is just that -- there were lots of people in their poll group that paid WAY more than that, and lots who got married for much much less.
You can plan a wedding of some sort on nearly any budget.

I found a site that lists average based on your location. It is fairly generic though, it all depends on what you want. I went to a great wedding a coupe of weeks ago that only cost $1000 for everything. Don't make your choices based on the "average" or what other people tell you to do or spend. This day is about you and the person you are marrying, and only you two can decide what is right.

I work at a wedding caterer and most of the weddings we have cost between 15,000 and 20,000 USD. My wedding is going to cost my family around 50,000 USD only because of the location, Hawaii. But you can have a wedding for much more or much less than 15,000. Good Luck!

It depends on the type of wedding you want. I did mine for around $6000. My friend got married last year and it cost her over $20000. You decide what's important to you and go from there. PS People who were at both weddings said mine was more fun because it was more low-key and they were just trying to show off their money. Which was true, but who would say their wedding wasn't better right??.

My wedding will cost $7,500. This includes the ceremony, reception, dj, photographer, alcohol, invitations, and decorations. I will be inviting 125 people. I found an awesome place in Stanford, IL! Good luck with your wedding plans!

$19,000...at least that is what is listed on the website. I would say that is about accurate and realistic. I know people who have gotten married for a lot less, and a lot more, it just depends on your taste and what you consider to be reasonable. Good luck and congratulations if a wedding is in your future!!

It depends on how you want it to be? I have worked with brides with $50K budgets and brides with $1K budget. I personally spent $1,500 on my wedding. It was beautiful. There are crafty ways to make your wedding the way you want it and not spend a fortune. You just have to know where to look.
