When people say 'truck' they sometimes mean pick-up truck , & sometimes they mean SUV.

If you mean pick-up then go with a Ranger
If you mean SUV then go with an Escape Or Escape Hybrid

Also I don't know if you mean city MPG, highway MPG or what ?

The old Subaru Brat 4WD gets about 26 mpg with a well-tuned engine.

Doesn't make sense. If you want 4WD then you will not get 18mpg off-road. If you want more than 18MPG on the road then you don't need 4WD.
