I completely disagree with that notion. All I do are 20 minutes cardios. They are intensity based and work very well at burning fat. I do three a week, sometimes more.

If you think they're pointless, why?

The cardio workouts I do are always 20 minutes. I have one that is 45. On those days that I don't really feel like doing it, I think to myself, "It's only 20 minutes, you can do this". If my cardio workouts were much longer, I would probably not be as consistent.

So I agree with you. 20 minutes for a cardio workout is perfect.

I don't think 20 min of cardio is pointless, no. But I have heard and read, and took a fitness course, that the first 20 min actually burns carbs. Any cardio after that is burning fat. I don't think it's an excuse to not do cardio though, even if someone only does it for 20 min....which is usually me. If I try and do more all the time, I lose interest, so I don't push myself.

Studies show that 30 minutes of cardio, 4 times a week is the most beneficial. Why not just add another 10 minutes to your workout?

I try for 30 or more, but I really start losing interest after about 20 or 30 minutes. No I don't think any exercise is pointless

I'm with you! 20 minutes of HIIT is better than 45 minutes of moderate sustained cardio.

No exercise is pointless. It all counts. Walking in from the parking lot, up the stairs, it all counts.
