At Church we talked about something I found interesting. In Corrithians 1, we discussed the boasting. that God only picks the "poorest, lowest, etc" to use as an example to the rest. That we are only to boast about Jesus, and the Kingdon of God. Pastor mentioned that to boast means "the thing your hope is in"... Makes you wonder where our hope is??? If we boast about the great marriage, great car, the money in our back accounts, our kids and family.... That is were our hope is at.... SAD,....
I realize if I boast (guilty) about my marriage and children, I need to be boasting that God gave me a great husband and marriage, God gave me a wonderful gift in my child's music and love.... etc....
Hope to see you at church on Wednesday night!
Be Blessed

I went to church right now. The progression the position we meet is a refurbished place of work progression. that's been reworked to look very very equivalent to a church interior, yet no longer a common church. The foyer section has abode windows, the sanctuary does no longer. it truly is about 20 years previous. The sanctuary has a "Arts & Crafts" look to it - in the back of the extent the wall is roofed with river rock, and there are large boxes with branches inserted that make it seem as if bushes are contained in the progression. it truly is painted 3 distinct colors of eco-friendly with brown and cream accents - very "earthy" searching. there's a huge bypass on the back wall, as well. the area seats about three hundred human beings. The pulpit is actual a black wrought iron podium. there is not any altar, as it truly is a denominational church that has a non-denominational look about it. The level is giant, as we've an total band and worship crew that makes use of it for the song provider element of the provider.

I go to a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. The talk was about the signs of the times and that we are living deep into the end of the last days. That we are close to the threshold of the new system of things that God has promised. And that we should more than ever be doing the will of God so as to please Him well so that we may be concealed in His great and fear inspiring day which is ever so close. We also had a study for the young ones about arriving at a time when they know right from wrong and their responsibilities toward Jehovah and what should be holding them back from baptism just as the eunuch told Philip, who showed him that he was reading about Jesus the Messiah, what keeps me from getting baptized.

The sermon was very powerful today. The pastor was talking about Christ second coming. and How were in an age where people are saying that Christ is not coming back but the signs show He is. No one knows the day or the hour when Christ will return but he will come when you least expect it. So we must be prepared everyday.

My "church" is a synagogue in the U.S. We go on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. The sermon this week was about safety issues. We have increased the number of security guards for our services and have locked all but one door to the outside. It has been recommended that we no longer advertise our activities in the news media and to invite guests on a one-to-one basis through the internet etc.

It has also been suggested that we not gather publicly to support our troops fighting in Israel. Once again we have to count on our Christian friends for support, or in some cases for their "tolerance."

Shalom

My dad was a Advent Christian (Protestant) minister with a traditional preaching style. He had two years' worth of sermons that he'd rotate, after editing them for the weeks' current events, working them in to make the sermon seem more relevant. I heard every single one of his sermons about eight times. Man I was bored. I'm 46 now, and Dad is 8 years dead, and to this day when someone (like a professor) is lecturing to a group that I'm in, I start to yawn and it makes me sleepy.

I went to church today but if you ask me about it you'd probably assuming i was lying about going because I couldn't tell you a word the priest said or recall anything else that might have occurred.

What happened to all the white Catholic Priests?

It is so funny you ask.... We only have two priest at our church and one is on vacation. They got a substitute, who is from India but for the last 19 years worked in Beirut. His accent was so thick that we did not understand one word he said. Made for a long mass which I just spent praying to our lord. Can't wait until our Priets are both back....:)
