Not much. Respiriatory infections are very bad for cats - you should take him to the vet as soon as possible.

If your cat just has a cold, known as an upper respiratory infection, (URI), it will be OK to wait until tomorrow or the next day to take it to the vet. But if it is drooling badly and especially if it is lethargic, YOU NEED TO GET IT TO A VET ASAP, LIKE NOW. Ask the vet about Vabrymicin. It is a red liquid and expensive (about $1 a dose) but I have had much better results with that anti biotic then with Clavomox, which is a white liquid. If your cat is so sick it is drooling, you need to spend the extra $ to get it better fast before it dies. I am not saying this to scare you, well maybe I am, I am telling you this because I run a rescue group and have held cats as they die with the symptoms you have described.
PS.. Milk is bad for cats.

Take your cat to the vet. That kind of cold can only get worse and is uncomfortable for your cat. The vet usually gives you antibiotics in the form of a liquid that you feed them twice a day for seven days. Usually after the first few days, the symptoms go away.

I worked in a no kill cat shelter and when a cat would get a cold we would mix Lysine in it's food. It is an amino acid that can be found in the vitamin isle. It does seem to help, but does not replace a trip to the vet, (if you can afford it) Good luck.
Oh, and I would not follow the milk advice. Milk is not good for cats. Rice and chicken mixed together are good when they are sick. (I also worked for a vet and that is what they recommended.

just keep giving him milk, (for nutrtiion) maybe some canned food or tuna,
DO NOT give tylenol or Ibuprofen. It is like a death sentence! It will damage the liver and it is all down hill from there. And the same for all the over the counter cold meds that people take. Cats cannot take it. It will damage their livers and they will die! Do not do this if you love your kitty.

i'm assuming you meant drooling??
anyways, i would suggest that you don't try to handle this one from home. i would take your cat to see the vet to be on the safe side. a cold to your cat is like bad pnuemonia in humans. if you had a child who had pnuemonia wouldn't you take them to the hospital or atleast a doctor to get checked out??

use steam it works with cats the same way it does for us to help open up the nasal passages and take it to the vet it might need antibiotics to help get over this.

Best to take him to a vet. Don't try to medicate him yourself. Many human meds are very toxic to animals. Also, I don't give my cats milk, as much as they love it, it upsets their stomachs.
