I work at a grocery store and I see people come in and they are wearing expensive brand name clothes, have there nails done, brand new cell phones, there hair highlighted, all done up and ****. And they use food stamps. Tell me what is wrong with this. They take money out of my paycheck to give to these people who dont need it. They dress better than me.

I TOTALLY agree with you!
What pisses me off is that they will live in trash and filth and but their children through sh*t (because they have to meet a certain income low to get foodstamps) just to have foodstamps so they can work "under the table" or have a sugar daddy or spend their check they do have on designer clothes, shoes, jewlrey, and their selves instead of bettering their self or their children, who usually don't have good school clothes or school supplies, and are lucky if they even know who their father is.

For example, the other day I went out to lunch and in front of me a couple was arguing with the resturaunt because they didn't accept foodstamps! Duhhhhhh....it is suppose to be for groceries, not for you to go out (because you don't have to work because the government takes care of them). They have food stamps but yet don't have a job, they have a new car, and the time to go out in the middle of the day (dressed in street clothes) to go out and eat.

It makes it harder for people who actually need it to get it, like families where the father looses his job or they need disaster assistance, so many other people are abusing it and when someone really needs money, there isn't any to give.

I agree that it is wrong.

No it is not right if they paid high dollar for all those things but, you can buy name brand clothes with tags still on them at the Goodwill, you can do your own nails at home for about $6 (THAT'S WHAT I DO AND EVERYONE ASKS ME WHERE I GOT MY NAILS DONE AT) You can highlight your own hair out of a kit, the cell phone could be borrowed or maybe someone else is paying the bill. Just because someone is on food stamps, doesn't mean they have to look like it

You have to understand that you may not know they're situation.
They may get those clothes in a thrift store and clean them well and
have resourses and freinds do their hair.
You don't know someone's situation till your in it.
So be careful of judging a book by it's cover, you don't have the full story.
And don't judge one based on another's situation it is not fair
to those who are honest and do need it.
Also when you are in poverty you will then see how bad it sucks oK.

Also keep in mind that they may work and get just food stamps only.
So what obviously they need to eat and being poor is not their fault,
soon all in America will know starvation because it will soon become a third
world country here.
When that happens, then the whole world is gonna starve.
NEVER BLAME the poor for their situation, it states that in the bible many times and
you will be judged on your treatment of THE POOR.

I agree with what others have said about you not knowing their circumstances, You also have to realize that some people who do have jobs, aren't paid much. To be more specific about my point. i know many people in the military are able to receive things such as food stamps and medical assistance.(usually lower ranking military) Now i personally have never use this system, like the previous poster stated, i have worked my a** of so i wouldn't have to use them. but my point is that sometimes these people really do need a little help even if they don't necessarily look like they do.
Unfortunately in this country we do have those that take advantage of the well fare system and that is unfortunate. and in cases like those i totally agree. but don't be so quick to get upset, just be proud that you have worked your butt off for what you have. I take more pride in working for something i have rather than have it handed to me.

Just maybe they are shopping for someone else. They may work in home health and that is just in their job description to shop for the clients. Their paychecks would be what pays for their fancy hair, nails and clothing.

Don't judge, it's not worth your time, effort or stress and only causes grey hair

There are people who take advantge of the system, but there are the majority who need the system. One thing welfare systems do is try to build self esteem. There is always an inherent portion of society that wants to take the easy way out. Also, it is a learned behavior. We are products of our environments. I think if we had time limits on the assitance, things would be better.

mmm not at all. Some people just find ways to take advantage of the ssytem for obvious selfish reasons but no it isn't right at all. But then I suppose all the rest of their money is being used on their appearance because of the fact that the government (/all of us) help them with money because they aren't getting much. So it's their choice how they use it, and some are just more in tuen than others, obviously not them. But..no not right

They make JUST enough money so they don't have to pay for their own crap. Orrr they just spend all their money on all their clothes and whatever else and have to get food stamps because of it.

Some people are just ignorant.

Well SAID!!!! Oh Yeah, I think about that all of the time. My tax dollars at work. I live from paycheck to paycheck and I buy inexpensive clothes because I cannot afford to dress expensively. Let a lone, I cannot afford to go out and buy clothes all of the time, because I am working hard to keep food on MY TABLE and a roof over my head and a lot of the taxes that they TAKE FROM HARDWORKING PEOPLE LIKE US GO TO PEOPLE THAT SUCK OFF OF THE GOVERNMENT LIKE A NEWBORN KITTEN SUCKS OFF OF IT'S MOTHER AND THEY CAN GO OUT AND DO WHATEVER THE HECK IT IS THEY WANT TO DO. THEY ARE LIVING THE LIFE OF LUXURY AND THERE ARE DECENT PEOPLE WORKING HARD TO SUPPORT THEIR LAZY A**ES

OH yeah...if someone like you or me walked into a welfare office and said "Hey I am hungry, I need foodstamps," they will turn you away...do you know why?? because they will tell you you make TOO MUCH MONEY!
We work our a**es off to support those who cry with loaves of bread under their arms.
