There are three types of Jack Russell's there is the Long leg Jack, There is the Short leg Jack and there is a Shorttie Jack smooth coats, rough coat and broken coat. English Jack, Parson Jack and the Shorttie Jack.

The Shorttie Jack which also goes by the name mini Jack they come from Scottland as to where the other two types come from England the English type is a bit bigger then the Parson and the Shorttie Jack is only 12 pounds in females and 14 pounds in males as for the other two types they go from 17 pounds to 20 pounds.

The Shorrtie Jack is not reg with CKC or ACK ,but there is Shorrtie Jack whiconly weighs at 12 pounds when full grown.

The most that people hear is about the Parson and the English Jack you don't hear much about the Shorttie Jack so they maybe the problem that no one really know there is a Mini or Shorttie Jack.

The only types that I have heard of are the broken coat and the smooth coat. I was wrong. There is also a wire haired type. The types are not distinguished by the legs. The official name of the breed was changed in 2003 to Parson Russell terriers. Most people still use the JRT.

Are you sure? Here's something I found:
"FCI, ANKC, IKC, recognize the shorts as Jack Russell Terriers and the UKC recognized the shorts as Russell Terriers. The Parsons are the long legged Jack Russell Terriers named officially Parsons Russell Terriers. The Jack Russell Terrier and the Russell Terrier are the same breed but are entirely a separate breed from the Parsons Russell Terrier."

I've always believed that the short-legged and long-legged versions were two separate types of JRT (and the registries seem to separate them into two separate breeds), however I've never heard of a third. Are you basing the third "type" on coat-type alone? That may make it a "variety" in some registries, but not a different breed.
I guess I'm wondering what your definition of "type" is -- breed, or variety?
Maybe I'm over-thinking this. I should really be doing housework! :)

The Jack Russell has a flexible body and fairly small chest (easily spanned by the average man's hands) to enable him to go to ground after his prey. The docked tail is carried gaily and set fairly high. Comes in smooth, broken, and wire-haired varieties. The broken coat is a cross of rough and smooth coat - long body hair, a slightly fuzzy face and a smooth head. An Irish-type called Jack Russell Shortys have shorter legs than the English-type.....
